There are more than a few that would like to blame 'self loathing', and it may well have played a role in his choice of targets but his hatred for rest assured his hatred for America was the root cause of the attack. There are now reports from several of his middle school classmates that he was downright giddy on 9/11/2001 - to the point that he was escorted out of school because other kids wanted to whip his arse. Too bad they didn't get their way.

It wouldn't be the first time someone against homosexuality was a closeted gay themselves, but in this case, I think he was just researching targets.

Yes. There's been a little bit more come out (like him having a gay online profile, acquaintances commenting on his closeted tendencies, etc) that makes me think he was closeted gay and wanted to "atone" for his "sins" and gain acceptance from his Radical Muslim Father.

where do the fingers get pointed if that turns out to be true? isis/religion? society in general?
from what i've read it seems this guy was a prick since at least the 5th grade. his teachers? the fbi who looked into him and didn't do anything?
maybe he was just one totally fricked up individual wanting to leave a legacy one way or another.

Yep. This is radical Muslim style for repenting on your deathbed. Instead of going to hell for a lifetime of crimes against Islam, you get to be a martyr with a full spread and 72 virgins. Also daddy was a Muslim hard-liner who hated gays.
