Think about it, say you were born in 1900
Your late teens had a World War and a major global pandemic
You got to your 30's and the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression
You got to your 40 and along comes another World War
Probably the toughest time to be young in the history of Merica!

For various reasons, in my family the generation before my parents was born in the first decade of the 20th century (some a bit earlier, none any later than 1910). And yes, they saw a lot. I once asked a great aunt and she said yes, she remembered the first time she saw an automobile.

Shoot, my dad’s old enough he can remember when Beria was executed after Stalin’s death.

My grandmother came in with the horse and buggy, lived to see indoor plumbing, and went out with the moon landing.

Same for the great uncle who adopted my dad when his mother died after childbirth. When he was courting the young lady who would become my great aunt, he’d fall asleep on the return home at night. The horse knew the way. He died a month before Apollo 11.

Definitely agree, beautiful voice.
However? I can never hear that song & not be reminded of the alternative lyrics me & my knuckle-dragging buddies came up with & always sang whenever the song was played:
“But you’re in so deep
You know I'm such a fool for you
You got me wrapped around your finger
Do you have to let it linger?
That Smell Upon Your Finger?…
…do you have to, do you have to let it linger?”

True Story.
I would trust a horse getting me home more than an Elon or googly moogly self driving car today.

My Great Grandad used to haul grain by horse and wagon and sell it at a town 10 miles away. On the way home people that knew him that were traveling his way home would pick him up in their car or truck. About evening the horses and wagon would show back up at his house. They knew their way home.
