I agree with you on some of what you’re saying. Not sure what else you could do. Got to find a treatment which they are working on. Not sure you can mandate testing. If someone is sick go to the Dr.but I don’t think it’s the place of the government to tell people to go get tested if they have no symptoms. And still what do you do if they don’t go? Sure FEMA has some funds but if someone does wanted to be tested is Homeland Security going to handcuff them and take them? FEMA released a statement today on it. Look I’m 58 years old so I’m kind of in the age that it’s fatal. But I’m not going to the Dr and get tested if I have no symptoms.

Talked to a fellow school administrator today at another school that told two students not to come to school because there is a good chance they where exposed. Smart move. I will do the same. But I very well remember that swine flu in 2009. Death toll in U. S. was somewhere between 4000 and 5000. We didn’t shut everything down. I do remember Newberry College had a case of it and they closed for four days.

I dont have answer as to the small % who would refuse testing, but that is beside the point.

Most people do want to be tested, esp if they became symptomatic, and SK is real life evidence of that. Problem is, we cant even test people who already have it.

This appears to be worse than anything we have dealt with yet due to the large numbers of ARDS associated with it. Hopefully they are skewed way high inaccurately.

Why sure people with symptoms are going to be tested. Only a damn fool wouldn’t . Well there are some of those there.

When you said you wanted more testing are you talking about people with symptoms or both symptoms and no symptoms?

You want to release FEMA funds. Where do those funds go?

It’s easy to blame the government but unless you can specifically tell me what you think the government should do and how to do it. I’m out of here.

Good luck.

We haven’t been testing them due to a lack of tests, so I guess that makes us fools. That’s on the government.

Whoever wanted to be tested, so basically everyone with symptoms. This has worked well in South Korea.

That’s for the shot callers to decide, just as they do in hurricanes.

I’m with you on volunteer testing just won’t work If mandated. Not ready to quarantine zip codes or call in DHS to haul people off for refusing to test.

It’s a very complex issue and it can get a lot worse. Government spending and how money gets spent, red tape all that is just not as easy as it should be or sounds. But we got to try and remain calm so we can make the best decisions on it. Got to have faith in your God and not the federal government.

If you want the federal government to solve all your problems and take care of you, you better take a hard hard look at the Native Americans. They have a pretty crappy life and the federal government takes care of them

I don’t think a person refusing to test would be a big problem.

Refusing to test symptomatic people is a much bigger problem. That is enabling this to spiral out of control.

When it comes to things on a scale this large, disasters and emergencies like canes and outbreaks, the government must step up and be held accountable.

What do you want the government to do? You’re still not giving me specifics. They virus was only discovered in late December that is not a lot of time. Do you think the government is not doing anything?

Vanderbilt University canceled classes. Do you think they made that decision off of what state, local and federal health agencies suggested or CNN and Italy Italy Italy? I get updates daily from those agencies since the first US case and met with our district office every day( heading there at 4) to decide what to do. I don’t have a problem to shut down based off recommendations for the people that are working on it. I’m sure that’s what Vandy did.

Do you want to quarantine certain zip codes? I mean what do you want?

Government is held accountable. You have a chance to vote in November. Trump wins I’m sure people will cry some more

Hey give me a grade on how you felt Obama handled the swine flu in 2009 and tell me what he did. Just curious

The two most important factors in South Korea’s success in containing the outbreak have been (1) Transparent and useful public information from the Federal government, and (2) Aggressive identification of infested persons through widespread testing. The USA has neither of those two factors going for it at this point even though we had earlier warning of the pandemic potential than SK did.

My boss just cancelled a trip to Nashville for today and tomorrow. He didn't want to take a chance on getting stuck there for whatever reason.

They have said it has pandemic potential, which is essentially what my post said.

Just saw that. Still not going to change what I do. I get updates every day from State and local health officials. Have 1200 high school kids I’m responsible for. I’ll follow what they say. I will make my decisions based off their recommendations. End of story.

You still have not given me any specifics as to what Trump and the federal government should do.

Also you haven’t gave Obama a grade for how he handles the Swine Flu.

It’s okay if you want to ignore the advice of the experts. Congress learned today this is 10x worse than the flu. Does trump fire that expert?

Thankfully the private sector is doing more than trump is: Working from home, closing schools, sports without spectators, canceling parades, music fests.

What are you going to do with your time when your 1200 kids are at home? because in person schooling is about to take a break.

What exactly is Trump not doing. Give me specific examples.

Crazy, it's almost like each State is it's own governing body. Color me shocked.

The lack of tests by the CDc falls under his watch.

He continues to downplay the threat, which is dangerous. It has led to many others not believing and understanding the threat.

What’s he suppose to do? Tell everyone to live in fear?

Testing was slow. But what do you want them to do now? Do you think it’s time for quarantines and DHS to arrest people that leave the house?

Never did tell me how you thought Obama handled the swine flu

The CDC is a federal entity. States and private labs are responsible for the bulk of testing. If you have an issue with the lack of testing, call your governor's office and gripe.
