A donkey being burned alive sounds better than Calling Baton Rouge. This is me in Tiger Stadium when they play it and everyone is clapping and stomping their feet like their trying to get shite off their boots...

Song about Baton Rouge by a guy from Oklahoma or a song about Alabama by a band from Florida...

I'm sure you already know this, but:
quote:

"Sweet Home Alabama" was written in answer to two songs by Neil Young, "Southern Man" and "Alabama," because the songs "took the entire South to task for the bloody history of slavery and its aftermath."

"We thought Neil was shooting all the ducks in order to kill one or two," said Ronnie Van Zant at the time.

In Young's 2012 autobiography, he commented on his song: "My own song 'Alabama' richly deserved the shot Lynyrd Skynyrd gave me with their great record. I don't like my words when I listen to it. They are accusatory and condescending, not fully thought out, and too easy to misconstrue."

So it's not intended to be about their home state, it's a response to the concept of someone (a Canadian at that) lumping together the entirety of Southern culture just to unfairly disparage all of the people within it.

Meanwhile, you've got another bunch of dirty Canadians somehow managing to make beautiful music about our Lamentations:

With our recent domination in the series, I see the song as a description of a conqueror surveying his conquered territory.
