I've peed in Little River Canyon many times, so in theory, yes, I guess I'm always there in some small way.

His technique was right
+ Cover eyes
+ Come in from the back
He went wrong
- Not cajun
- Probably did this when younger and more fit
- Looks like his second had some weight, should have been right behind him for added weigh and muscle
- No strap / belt in hand to lock jaw in closed position
- Poor terrain choice
Human high and flat
Gator low and uneven
2 / 10 to 4 / 10 at best, lucky was not worse.

Key to the big lizards is keeping their jaw down and closed. Their skill is the pressure down and strength to do so. Fully open to chomp down is where the danger is. If you ever saw a gator eat snapping turtle it is impressive.
Full pressure and range down and it does to that turtle shell what you or I can do with a peanut in shell at a baseball game.
Maybe a decade or two ago in some retirement resort around Savannah a juvenile chomped some little old granny. Did not get to eat her but that one chomp destroyed her thigh bone and flesh that she bled out fairly quick. Most were only a few houses away but she was already DoA before aid could be administered.

I remember watching Faces of Death for the first time and an alligator trapper goes to this little pond and gets pulled underneath and was never seen again.

I've tried to put that out of my memory, but didn't someone parachute into an alligator pit in that?
