The city is changing for the better. I never thought I'd say that.

I've lived in Bham for pretty much the last 14 years. More has happened in the last 2-3 years than the 11 years before that. It really is amazing. I don't think we'll get it, but I think we have a better shot than most think at getting the DNC. I also think that if things keep improving at this rate, Birmingham will be an NBA caliber town in 5 years or so.

We could only hope.

Notice I said "NBA Caliber" town...that doesn't necessarily mean we'll have one.

"He's still pissed about that thread yesterday."

Definitely. It doesn't speak too well of his home state (Mississippi) that Ole Miss and Mississippi State grads regularly flock to that sh##hole Birmingham after graduation. The Birmingham metro area is as big as the 4 largest Mississippi metro areas combined. Doesn't speak well of Mississippi at all.

Well the Birmingham metro area passed the Buffalo, NY metro area in population a few years so technically it's large enough to have a pro franchise. In fact, Birmingham was one of only a handful of cities without a pro franchise that could support a pro franchise in 3 of the 4 major pro sports. MLB was the only one they couldn't support. Other cities in that group were Louisville, Norfolk, Austin, Richmond, and Providence.
