It will take a couple more decades, but you will rarely see anyone light up. Parent groups are still going crazy over the teen attraction to vaping but the other side of that is way more deadly cig use is almost nonexistent among teens. Popularity of the Zyn brand keeps growing. Retailers are limited on how much they can buy. Females are starting to use Zyn as well since there is no spitting needed . No tobacco juice.

My kid vapes and has major anxiety. I can't get her to understand that vaping is probably the worst thing in the world for it. All that shite is dumb.

vaping and anxiety
Pretty sure even disposable vapes now have magnitudes over the amount of nicotine compared to a pack or even a carton of traditional cigarettes.
Chain-vaping (which is easy to do by comparison) could cause a racing heartbeat, hypertension, sleeping issues, etc. which are essentially very similar presentations.
So it's not surprising at all that the two could be correlated for most young adults, and almost circularly inducing each other.
And as I understand it, Zyn is essentially the same thing (nic salts) in a different form?

So tea bags without the tea leaves

I am overly ignorant when it comes to nicotine. It disgusts me. I've never taken a drag off a cigarette or tried to dip even once.

My brother was over a pack a day and now goes through a vape every seven days so he gets comparable or less nicotine. He pointed out he can puff the vape once and put it down as opposed to lighting a cigarette and on a time limit to smoke it.
Tobacco companies have lied to us for over 100 years but the anti vape parent groups are full of false propaganda as well.

Synthetic nicotine. Almost identical monocularly. Several competing products use the same thing. No tobacco juice so spit free. Females are starting to use it more and more. Also popular for plane flights, no one knows.
Product of Swedish Match (Phillip Morris is primary owner) and approved by the FDA.

If you watch people vape, it's clear it's largely an anxiety response. With cigarettes, you at least needed to wait for a smoke break, or to find the smoke place in the airport, which forced the body to self regulate, at least a bit. Vapes remove that control, which increases proclivity for its use, and the cycle continues. It's like a kid that "needs" a fricking fidget spinner. Go run around at recess, then learn to control yourself, because that's part of the deal with most of western society.
And nevermind that especially kids will buy the cheapest shite they can, no idea if it's been refilled with, etc.
I think Zyn (haven't tried it) is similar to vapes, in that once you remove the spit cup and the laborious procedure of getting dip or chew out of your teeth served as a control on when and where you could use it. Without the need to spit (apparently), you could pop 'em all day in the office and nobody would know.

No doubt — I'm a firm believer in moderation, and actually don't think nicotine itself is extremely harmful if dosed accordingly.
I was thinking more in line with what you and Lemmy mentioned about it being so easy to conceal and use indoors, for example, so that by and large some folks consume wayyy to much. Maybe those who have never smoked and don't know how to regulate quite as well?
And IDK if it's any different now, but the potential used to be high for suspect ingredients, especially in those cheap, imported gas-station vapes. I've also read that the carrier (often propylene glycol) may or may not be harmful long term.
Who knows, they'll probably eventually regulate these things out of existence, and I'm sure the industry is currently working on whatever will replace it. It's a never-ending cycle, and in the meantime something else will just end up taking me out eventually anyway.

It's a lot like the porn industry where they are always one step ahead. Another runaway train that will never be stopped.

You mean dopamine and what it does to the brain? Gambling, women spending money, men catching fish, surfing memes on FB, talking about travel ball on the OT... It's not hard to figure out it's our brains driving the train.

I quit cigs a few years ago and bounced between disposables and pouches. Zyn was handy on planes, but I’d overuse it. With vapes I noticed anxiety spikes when chain-puffing high nic, so I dropped to 10 mg salts and only take a few pulls, then pocket it.
What helped was swapping to a small MTL pod with a 0.8 coil and USB-C so I don’t chase chargers all day. The one I use is called Elfa Turbo and I keep it in the low-power mode to avoid chain vaping.
