No it really isn't. And rating sites are not always accurate. Goodreads for example has the first Harry potter book higher than the Iliad. If you agree with that you are on drugs.
Just because something is more palatable to the masses =/= better. Mariah Carey and Taylor Swift have higher claimed sales than the rolling stones and the eagles. Are they better than the 2 older bands?

100% different. Endgame broke every Box office record, and is not even close to best movie. Shawshank has zero hype around it right now. None of my friends have even heard of it, and it’s still the #1.

Shawshank doesnt have the same level of hype sure, but then its an older film. Same principle still applies though. Anytime I say I did not enjoy the movie I get attacked for not liking the movie and I'm a POS because imdb agrees with them, as do Tay tays sales versus the rolling stones
This is evidenced by my down votes on first page. Some I know irl do think it is deserving of that 1 slot. I do not. There are more deserving films for number 1, far more ambitious in scope, better scores, better cinematography, etc. but I'm the bad guy for not liking what people say is just a good movie
