Are men under assault?

Dear Fans,
Some people lament that we are losing our toughness in society. Some even point to various rule changes in football, which of course have been front and center in my life as an athletic director. While some of the changes may in fact increase safety, I don't believe they are chipping away at toughness. But, I've even heard people extend this argument to suggest there is a subtle war or assault being waged on men and manliness.
I recently found a commercial for Autotrader that seems to place a father in a very wimpy, un-tough position.
Is there an assault on men? Is there a concerted effort to reduce toughness or manliness? Or, do we have a narrative that is perpetuated by confirmation bias?
Thank you.

Minimize your interaction with society and nothing can assault you. You'll be quite happy.

Dear Fans,
I faced a bit of anger and hostility on the SEC Rant when I attempted to correct the record on the LSU & UF scheduling problems.
I only noticed these issues in males, hence my question.
In today's world, safe spaces are not just about tort liability and physical injury. Many issues confront the modern man. In a gesture of good will, I suggested some of the individuals take advantage of LSU's Safe Space opportunities..
I'm a humanist and just want to give back to the community.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Foley
