Was Ice Cream Man a redo of an old blues song
You are correct as usual, sir!
quote:
"Ice Cream Man" is a song originally written and recorded in 1953 by Chicago blues musician John Brim (born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky). It was later covered by the rock band Van Halen on their debut album. David Lee Roth, Van Halen's vocalist, has cited it as a favorite and pushed for its inclusion as a tribute to the blues.
In the years between touring, Brim owned and operated a record store in Gary, as well as dry-cleaning businesses there and in Chicago. In 1981, royalties from Van Halen and the J. Geils Band helped him to open a blues club on North Broadway called John Brim’s House of the Blues, Broadway Nite Club.

After listening to Van Halen last night, I liked Jump which I had heard before, and Hot for Teacher.

Before my time. I grew up on hip-hop and loved to listen to old country music with my parents.
