So, in over 6,000 years of written history you can't find any civilized nation that has condoned homosexual marriage.

Yet the enlightened youth, living in the basements of mommy and daddy knows best for recorded history.

Reform Judaism[edit]
The Union for Reform Judaism (formerly known as the Union of American Hebrew Congregations) supports the inclusion of same-sex unions within the definition of marriage.

I find it ironic that no one has found an established religion that accepts the homosexual lifestyle.

I'm not sure why that at all matters, but there are a few, most notably Hinduism and Shintoism.

No one has linked a civilized nation that has condoned homosexual marriage.

Well, then I'll remedy that right now:

I'm just saying that history by itself is not an adequate justification for current practices.

I'm half Swedish. Up until 800 years ago my ancestors spent their time eating shitty fish, raiding churches, enslaving people they didn't like and freezing to death. That seemed to work for them so it should work for me too right?

You asked for civilized nations which condone homosexual marriage. I listed a few. Not sure what else you want.

Catholicism, thank god, is not the basis for law in this country

Who said a fricking thing about law. In the eyes of the church to be an active participant in good standing it must be through the church.

This country has too many cultures and has been split with too many views for it survive another millennia, Unless people become tolerant of other beliefs and morals. We as Americans are setting ourself up for failure. We are arrogant enough to believe that a smaller portion of the population can force their views on the masses and vice versa. People are born with inherent rights to choose how they want to live their life. If you want to be gay, your choice. If you are not tolerant of it, your choice. The same could be said for hundreds of issues we are facing. We just all need to get along or at best tolerate the other

So what happens if you're catholic and gay and want to get married at a church?
