You make a compelling argument. I'm trying to think of a more solid top to bottom trilogy than BTTF and I can't.

Have you seen Cube? How about Session 9 with David Caruso?
Those are movies I relate to the first Alien. Not as directly influenced like Event Horizon. Not even about aliens. But the same type of psychological horror and tension

Depends on how you interpret the details. Clint Eastwood wears the same outfit in all 3 movies Poncho, vest, etc.

I liked the movies. But they did not follow Tolkien's texts 100%.
And I will admit Frodo and Sam walking to the volcano is boring AF. whenever I watch the movies I skip those parts. It is not the best trilogy
