Yet we have evidence of melted steel, in official reports and eye witness accounts. Have you not seen the magma? It's flowing, as magma does. #magma

Link?

quote:

You haven't connected anything, you've simply said steel can melt and therefore the towers collapsed because steel can melt.

That's not what I said at all dude.

I said that at higher temperatures steel sees its tensile strength and yield strength go down exponentially. And this has been experimentally confirmed and is very well documented. Please don't claim that I ever referenced steel melting again, because that's just not true.

quote:

You shared a link that tried to explain it but it looked like something from my camp, the non mainstream side. It was hardly all inclusive, in fact it was embarrassingly thin.

wtf? That link was from a scientific journal that specializes in material science.

That article has the following citations:

quote:

1. Presentation on WTC Collapse, Civil Engineering Department, MIT, Cambridge, MA (October 3, 2001).
5. Steven Ashley, “When the Twin Towers Fell,” Scientific American Online (October 9, 2001); www.sciam.com/explorations/2001/100901wtc/
6. Zdenek P. Bazant and Yong Zhou, “Why Did the World Trade Center Collapse?—Simple Analysis,” J. Engineering Mechanics ASCE, (September 28, 2001), also www.tam.uiuc.edu/news/200109wtc/
7. Timothy Wilkinson, “World Trade Centre–New York—Some Engineering Aspects” (October 25, 2001), Univ. Sydney, Department of Civil Engineering; www.civil.usyd.edu.au/wtc.htm.
8. G. Charles Clifton, “Collapse of the World Trade Centers,” CAD Headlines, tenlinks.com (October 8, 2001); www.tenlinks.com/NEWS/special/wtc/clifton/p1.htm.

And you are just going to dismiss it with a passing glance? Give me one article with anything close to the credibility of those citations that supports your views (whatever those are, I still have no idea because you haven't put forth an alternative claim).

Or, you know something else you could do, you could tell me something in that article that isn't consistent with what we observe or physics. Stop being so dodgy, it isn't accomplishing anything.

First night of college football, weather is nice, guitar in lap -- not going to waste these kind of evenings on a 911 debate, especially one as pigeonholed as this.

This isn't a debate. This is an engineer putting forth materials science and scientific studies and another guy that won't link anything and won't even go into details about what his claims are, much less the evidence for it.

Jesus dude, I'm not asking for much, and I think I've been more than forthcoming and polite with you. You can at least try to be intellectually honest.

There are novels worth of historical fact that have a ton to do with the events of 911.

And there are countless pieces of information that are not a part of the mainstream understanding of the day.

Studies conducted by the foremost engineering institutions in the nation apparently can't hold water to the mountains of evidence that this guy has on deck.

Maybe if we get this thing to go another 40 pages he'll actually post something that is either an actual critique of the conventional line of thought on the structural failure of the WTC or a single credible study that supports his view. Which, do you happen to know what those are? He hasn't even done his due diligence in putting forth an alternative, at least not upon my earlier requests.

Otherwise, I request that we stop calling this a debate because that actually requires the opposing party to offer a counterpoint or flaw in my party's line of thinking.

If it helps, I can go through my points in excruciating detail post by post and see where exactly he agrees/disagrees with them, because that's what I honestly want to know.

He was asking me to name a novel that has to do with 911, not the tower collapses exclusively. Not that hard to follow that.

I'll give you that.

Although being a spectator is a lot better than trying to stop the dude tilting at windmills.

EDIT: P.S., what happened to my thread about heaven? Anyone get banned? This is the second time I've had a super long thread randomly get deleted without anyone notifying me whatsoever.

I've gone more than my share of rounds with Sleeping and his two previous iterations of himself swatting around a piñata actually can get old, believe it or not. Fun to watch these days tho.

Strawman, the audacity you have to continue to make these kind of comments after your display in the linked thread is just weird.

Tbird, I don't suppose you feel the same way as I am about each of our opening games. Congrats. How much fun was that to watch?

Lot of fun to watch, man. I honestly can't remember the last time TAMU showed up that big in their first major game of the year. Very encouraging to witness as a fan, just hope they can build on it.

It reminded me in a way of the Alabama - Clemson game in 2008. That game launched Alabama into what it's been the last 5 years. That win tonight was the kind of win that has the ability to grow into something big. Good luck.

Man, that's the only game I can go to this year. I want that dub badly

Thanks for the kind words, Stacked! We'll see how it plays out the next few years I guess. Win or lose I'm rolling with my Ags, though!

No, I asked you to name one of your "undisputed facts". Not that hard to follow.
