A loser in the 1st round of Women’s US Open will receive $82,000

Caitlin Clark will make 76k for an entire year
So a first round exit which takes 1 hour will be a better paying gig than an entire season. Why every single athletic woman isn’t shuffled to tennis makes zero sense to me. They actually make real money

I doubt it was the same when she was six……BTW she will end up with at least 5-10 million just on endorsements. When’s the last womens tennis player in a national add????

Peej don’t be an idiot. The 128th finisher in the women’s us open will make 82k in a single day
What will the 128th best player in the wnba make an entire year?

In salary yes she will
Forget about Clark. An unknown wnba player will make 75k
An unknown women’s tennis player will make 82k in a single day
Y’all’s comprehension to not being able to grasp this simple concept of how much of an outlier tennis is for women’s pay is classic

It’s pretty simple. More people watch women’s tennis than women’s basketball. Not THAT much more, but enough.
Posted on 4/16/24 at 6:53 pm to lsupride87
Not that hard to understand. Women's tennis is massively more popular than the WNBA both in the US and globally.
Posted on 4/16/24 at 6:53 pm to lsupride87
Let me make it simple for the morons
The 25th ranked player in women’s tennis has made $808,000 this year and we are in April
Does that drive the point home for y’all?

That’s an incredibly bad response. Women tennis players have the opportunity to compete in tournaments throughout the year. WNBA players have a salary.

Is the women's US open subsidized to the tune of $10M/yr just to exist?

1. Clark is not going to make 10 million in endorsements. Her entire platform is now dead leaving college
2. Superstars in women’s tennis will make 100s of millions in endorsements and millions in actual salary/prize money
It’s not comparable. What’s even more egregious is a non popular women’s tennis player ranked 50 will make over a million in a year just from earnings. That blows WNBA and any other female sport out of the water.
The entire premise of this thread is women’s tennis is an extreme outlier for female sports. It’s amazing how you and others can latch on to co oeltelt irrelevant talking points

What women tennis superstar has made $100 in endorsements???? You really think Clark will not show up in any more ads????
The only women’s tennis players that have made even close to $100 million on endorsements is Serena and Maria.
Now is tennis a more lucrative sport to play?? Absolutely… but maybe Clark tried tennis and wasnt any good at it… you are making it sound like Clark is not good at her craft…. Moron…,

What women tennis superstar has made $100 in endorsements
Coco Gauf made 16 million last year in endorsements. Do 100/16, that takes a whopping 6.5 years to close in on 100 million
7 women’s tennis players last year made 10 million or more in endorsements.
Once again, the premise of the thread was how much an outlier women’s tennis is. You don’t need endorsements or anything else to make over a million a year
It’s the only sport that exists like this. Yet, it’s so untapped in terms of American children getting in the sport. It makes ZERO sense
There are so so so many more coco gauffs out there that for some reason go play softball or basketball, dead end sports for females

yeah we should have thousands more professional women's tennis players and they will all make millions
It's a lot easier to make the WNBA against a mostly American pool than professional tennis against a global pool.
