Why doesn't Mizzou claim the 1960 National Championship?

Ole Miss still claims their championships from the 50's.

We sit by and just allow Minnesota to claim that year. Yet we were declared the NC by multiple media outlets, and had an undefeated record, while they went 8-2.

I agree. But wasnt it 1960? Either way we should be claiming it.

It's more legit than many of the NC's claimed by other schools.

Good question. It goes along with Mizzou's whole effort about having "integrity" though. Guess it's not viewed as legitimate enough by our AD

Had the chance to talk with a member of that team at a local watch party. His answer was that they legitimately lost that game, and would have even without the ineligible player.

Probably has something to do with it. The team didn't even think they were NC that year since shitty kansas beat the team.

That being said, we're SEC now, might as well take a shot.

Because we have integrity. It's what...we do?

Also because the crowning of a College Football Champion has always been a convoluted mess.

I'm glad they don't, and if they suddenly decided to, I'd have to stay off the rant for at least a year.

Why? TAMU just claimed one last year.

In the big picture, I'm more worried about being able to see one in my lifetime. What are the chances of that happening?

Not to be too serious, but I think what happens in the next few years will determine that.

Do the generations of Mizzou fans that have become used to being the shite team demand more, or do we just continue looking for winning seasons and bowl wins?

We've got to move up a level. I've seen shite football, and I've seen wining. I much prefer winning. However, having seen the shite for a decade and being a fan, I'm content with winning seasons. Hopefully our younger alumni groups will put the real pressure on the AD to get some championships. The older generations have been beaten down.

There is a major step between winning seasons and competing for championships. We've been content with winning after the years and years of shite. I hope and pray the students and new fans that have experienced winning wants to take it to the next level.

Good is the enemy of great.

Dont know how old you are, but I expect to have one within the next 50 years. I think that is reasonable.

A bit older than you my friend if you are still in school. 44 to be exact here. It sounds to me like the answer to my question is no, but maybe within your lifetime (assuming you're college age).

You're right about feeling beaten down. After having seen the program come out of the blackhole of the 80's and surrounding years, last year gave me a case of flashbacks and wondering if the program has truly progressed at all or are we right back there again.
