Obviously I'm not around them day in and day out, but who do you think the leaders on this team are? Who is the guy that rallies the troops, so to speak, before and during games? Who is the glue that bonds this team together? In my opinion they don't have any, and that is a major part of the problem. I feel like they need a guy to step up and take ownership.

Brown is the closest we have. I've seen him, not the coaches, instructing the younger guys late in close games during time outs.

We don't have any leaders on this team, because if we did they wouldn't have half assed it the other night. That definitely wouldn't of happen under the likes of Denmon or English.

That surprises me a little. I feel like on TV he usually looks pretty disinterested.

Problem is they got 3 shooting guards, that are not team players. And no bigs.

Do you detect chemistry issues between the coaching staff and players? It wouldn't surprise me if that were the case.

What this team needs is Kim English. Not playing, but coaching. I wish he would just come back and be an assistant coach.

As a lot of you probably know, Kimmie is a PowerMizzou subscriber and put a really long interesting post up about the situation yesterday and he did attribute the difference on this team to probable lack of leadership. Lot of interesting stuff in that even the relative lack of leadership and direction on last year's team under Flip made a bit more sense as Kimmie stated that in 2012 "Marcus or Coach Haith or I would bark out a play or directive to Phil and all he had to do was execute it." So even while playing point in '12, Pressey wasn't really running the show in that sense from a leadership standpoint.
The other stuff Kimmie mentioned was that in 2012 they didn't have to do ballscreen after ballscreen b/c they had packages for Ricardo and for Kimmie and would deliberately mix it up sometimes running five different offensive sets in 5 straight trips down the court to keep teams off balance, but it was doable b/c of having guys at all 5 positions who were offensive threats. This year's team only has guys at 3 positions who are threats at any given time, which shortens the playbook.
TL;DR: Kimmie is of course very supportive of Haith and was pretty adamant that the stuff Haith draws up does work, but he A) needs leaders on the floor to listen and execute it and that's not happening now and B) the reality of this year's teams personnel creates a shortened playbook as compared to what Haith was able to do with the 2012 group, and it shows.

Criswell seems to have been in the doghouse all year. Jones may be as well.

What this team needs is a coach that's NOT a friend to the players (kind of like parents NOT being friends with their kids).

That's great info from Kim English. I'm not a member on PowerMizzou, so thanks for sharing. Kim English knows way more about basketball than I will ever even hope to know so if Haith is good for him, he's good in my book. From reading Kimmie's thoughts, it seems like Haith just needs to focus on getting the right guys in there who will buy in.
