What is your dream season compared to realistic expectations?

Ok, we are a little over a week away from Mizzou football and we've been going back an forth on our predictions for the season. Any a-hole can say what they think will happen but the reality is that we know nothing until the next 3 months play out.

Usually when making said predictions we go with our heart (what we hope will happen) or our brain (What we think will actually happen).

My dream scenario for the season is 13-0, a SEC Championship, and a Playoff appearance.

Why not? The schedule sets up nicely for us. When we were in the Big 12 I would look at games against OU and Texas as automatic loses. I really believe that our schedule has gotten easier since joining the SEC. I don't see any game that is unwinnable. I believe our toughest games are @ UGA and @ Arky. Miss St. might surprise some people. I think Tenn is all hype. UGA has a new QB and WR injuries. If our D-Line and WR's can step it up I believe were have the experience and leadership in other areas to go all the way.

It won't be enough to just get to the SECCG this year. In 2013 I felt Mizzou had a good chance of winning. While it was disappointing that they lost I couldn't really complain because the 2013 season was a huge step up from the 2012 season.

Last year I was just happy that they got to the SECCG. After the Indiana loss I just wanted Mizzou to win 3 more games and get to a bowl game. My expectations rose a little after the SC game but fell back down after the UGA game. After UGA I was hoping for 3 or 4 more wins so an SECCG appearance exceeded expectations. No complaints there.

If Mizzou happens to three peat I won't have that, "just happy to be here" felling. They need to get over the hump and win the big one. Going undefeated in the regular season and winning a conference title would be a 1st for GP. The way things are set up it's not impossible.

Time for reality to set in..........

My heart wants what Pinkel has never done and what the program hasn't done since 1960 (even that has an * by it).

The more realistic season would be 9-3 and get into an above average bowl. If they win their bowl game it would still be the 1st year that Pinkel got them to double digit wins three years in a row. Other than the losses to UGA and Arky, the other possible loss could come against BYU, Miss St., or Tenn (Maybe they aren't all hype after all but I really want them to be 4-0 against The Vols).

I would be more disappointed in going to the SECCG and not winning than not going to the SECCG at all.

What is your heart telling you about this season and what are you're realistic expectations?

I'd just be happy get the monkey off our back of "you can't win the big one."

Any wins after that are bonus.

It would raise the bar for future seasons.

Mizzou's last conference championship was 1969, not 1960. We went to the Orange Bowl and lost to #2 Penn State, 10-3. Coach Pinkel HAS won a conference championship, with Toledo in the MAC.

I agree every game on our schedule is winnable this year with this team. I DO NOT agree the SEC is easier than the Big 12, not by a long shot. The SEC is a grind, and we've had somewhat favorable schedules for three years, 2013-2015. This program (and athletic department) has stepped up their game in accordance with the move to the SEC. In past years there might not have been the money to keep Coach Kul.

Realistic record is 10-2, 9-3. Losing Brantley and Loud from the area of the team that had the biggest question marks going into this season didn't help.

Our goal should be to win the East again this year, win the CCG and make the playoffs. That could happen even with one loss, but that loss would have to be to a respected opponent, say Georgia. 12-1 in the SEC would get us into the playoffs. I would love to see it.

2016 might also be a possibility, since this team is so young, but in 2016 we'll lose at least 4 of our 5 starting offensive linemen, though we'll have a lot of returning starters otherwise.

Realistically I think we go 9-3 or 10-2. I think UGA and Arky are the games we will have the most trouble with. I am hopeful that Mauk improves enough for us to have a great shot in both of those games.

Dream would be that we 3-peat for the East and win the SEC Championship. Everything is gravy from there.

Dream Season would obviously be winning it all while going undefeated. On top of that, have Lock take over at QB to lead the Tigers to the promise land.

Realistic
SEMO(Win big)
@Arky State(Win by 20)
UConn (Win by 17)
@Kentucky (Win by 28)
South Carolina(Win by 6)
Florida(Win by 14)
@Georgia(Loss big)(Can't stop Chubb)
@Vandy(Win by 7)
Miss St(Loss by 7)
BYU (Win by 3)
Tenn(Loss by 10, they finally beat us)
@Arky(Loss by 7)

Average Bowl vs Big 10 school (Win close)

9-4 season which wouldn't be terrible. I hope I am wrong, but I just don't see enough offensive talent and the loss of the line to get back to the SECCG, let alone beat the West Champ.

I was referring to the undefeated regular season and, but it's been too long since Mizzou won a conference title too. I was also talking about Pinkel not winning a title at Mizzou. Sorry, if I wasn't clear.

Well... my dream season isn't a crazy scenario. We could very well go 12-0. There isn't a single game on our schedule that I don't think we can win. There are only 2 that I don't think we SHOULD win.

13-0 with SEC Championship would be a dream season.

Arkansas and Georgia are the two games where we would have to pull an upset. Say we win 1 and go 11-1....We could very realistically win the SECCG at 12-1...which would also be a dream season.

Realistically, I think 10-2 is a decent expectation. 9-3 at a minimum.

I would agree if we were in the west and if you're comparing our current schedule to our Big 12 north schedule.

If Mizzou had stayed in the Big 12, A&M would have still left, and TCU would have been brought in to fill the void.

Baylor, TCU, and OU would be just as tough, if not tougher, than UGA and Arky.

Kansas St. = Miss St.

OK St. = Tenn.

Texas = Florida & SC

Texas Tech = UK

Kansas < Vandy

Why does everyone seem to think Arky will be so good?

I literally can't wrap my head around it.

Because they blew out Ole Miss and LSU last year and most of their games were close in the all mighty SEC West. Oh and they beat Texas.

Hey, screw Arky! They haven't proven a damn thing.

If you go to the youtube and watch the Arky game again you will see how the dominated our lines until we went to the no huddle late in the second half and wore down those big hogs up front. The Arky's coach lost that game for them, because he was to stubborn to take out their injured qb who was missing open receivers like crazy. If it wasn't for that controversial fumble recovery by Golden at the end of the game they(Arky) were marching downfield to score.

Other than all that stuff we won the game.

My heart is telling me we're going to have growing pains on defense with an improved aerial offense.

Realistic expectations are 8-4 or 9-3.

Realistic Dream Scenario is making Atlanta and winning.

Winning a National Championship is not likely even in a dream scenario.

My head is telling me 7-5 at best. I've picked 6-6 or 7-5 the last couple of years and we've won the devision so I'll go that way again and hope for a 3-peat.

My dream season would be no injuries and no one doing something stupid to get kicked off.

Georgia losses 2 games they should not lose.

The rest of the East is weak.

The West beats up on each other and we play a 8-4 West champion.

2 out of 4 is reality. The rest is fantasy

Add me to your list of Arky doubters. They lost a star RB and no one bats an eye.

I think 10-2 with wins against Arky and UGA but upset losses to Miss St. and SCAR (Spurrier is a crafty dude). Tennessee still can't beat us. What an overrated team.

We win the SECCG but fail to make the playoff because of the SCAR loss.

Lol, they didn't dominate shite!

In fact, we flat out kicked their arse in the second half. The fumble recovery wasn't controversial. It was clearly a fumble. Great play by a great player.

We had 423 yards to their 288. Had 8 more first downs, ran 23 more plays and held the ball for 5 min more than they did.
