I didn't see that statement, but that is a very selfish statement to make. He's focusing on his numbers and not how the team plays. He can be VERY exciting to watch play, but at the same time I have found him very frustrating to watch. If he learned to play within his skill sets, he'd be great. I don't think anyone can watch him play and say his defense is anything but sub-par. Way too many turnovers for a player who is supposed to be quarterbacking the offense. He shoots way too many threes when he's not a 3 point shooter.

Clearly, wanting to be the all-time ASSIST leader is the definition of being selfish.
A good portion of Mizzou fans must take their marching orders from Skip Bayless.

This thread is an embarrassment. Pressey just set the alltime assist mark. He said now he wants to set the mark so high no one will ever touch it. I hope that means he's coming back. One of the most enjoyable players to watch since I started watching the Frazier, Sunvold, Stipo era.
The Thread is he is out of control and no one will spend a first round pick on him because of it. That is the truth.
And I have been watching MU basketball a few years longer than you and in my opinion he is not as fun to watch as any of those players you mentioned or Chievous, Peeler, Kareem Rush, or hell I loved Moon McCrary and Paul O'Liney before Flip.
Those guys play under control, Flip does not.

Poster using sarcasm to make a point to which I would agree.
In fairness, these are young men of which a lot is expected. Yes, they are on scholarship, but they aren't machines, without feelings.
I won't lower my desire to see national prominence, but I will try to concentrate on the successes and let Coach Haith work on improvements.

BEING the career assist leader is not selfish.
TALKING about wanting to hold a record for assists is being worried about one's own numbers. That is selfish.
He's got talent, don't get me wrong. But there's a difference between finishing your career the best at something and another being worried about what numbers you are going to put up before you've even put them up.
How about being worried about leading the team to the first final four? I could handle a team goal like that much more than worrying about if someone else will ever break his assist record.

Here in lies the problem of not hearing what he said and how he said it. A comment like that can be taken several different ways.
Could have said it like he is aspiring to be the best he can be and this is a goal of his, to set the bar so high no one can reach it. Nothing wrong with that.
Could also mean just what you said reedus, he could be looking at it selfishly and attaining this goal at the expense of the team. Very selfish thing to say if it was meant that way.
I don't know, but I liked his play much better this last game. But here is the problem we all run into. Which Pressey will show up in the next game? Haith doesn't even know. This is what hurts this kids reputation as a PG. He can look fantastic one play and completely horrible the next. He has an over inflated perception of himself, you still have to play smart and don't dribble into a double team, but we still see him try to split two defenders with the ball resulting in turnovers most the time because if it's one glaring thing I've noticed with SEC refs, and thats they don't get to crazy with reach in fouls. They allow quite abit of rough play and this doesn't bode well trying to split two defenders with the ball.
But on the other hand the kid has great court vision if he would only use it in those situations.

He does have some of the best court vision I have ever seen.

Most of it is during transition play. When he comes down the court and tries to set the offense, he seems to loose it. During transition play, the court is wide open and the defense he's attacking doesn't have a chance to set, there are gaps ect. I hate to see him slow down actually. When he slows down it gives the other teams defense time to set, and tighten gaps set for duoble teams on Pressey ect. He is so fast with the ball, I'd like to see him press the defense by getting down the court alittle faster not giving them time to set. This is what Bell does. He has a good pace getting down court.
But you can tell other teams have scripted a whole game to counter what Pressey does, and thats impressive all by itself. They game plan around him.

You're right. He loses his effectiveness in a half court game. If it were me, I'd still see him trying to dribble penetrate and hit the floater if it's there or kick it out. Obviously, a lot easier to do in transition.
