Yeah, it's not like we were going to use that scholarship on a DE,DL or RB or top notch MLB. Why not burn it on a long snapper?

Yeah, but 3 or so of those are in our conference.

I don't disagree with you and further think Odom's ability to recruit won't be known until the next few classes but in fairness, the 2 JUCO guys I can think of that he brought in haven't done much so far. Black and Ross.

Black and Ross were grad transfers.
You better believe the juco LT is a huge reason the line is functional.

I stand corrected.

I agree 100% with this other than the fact that he was a GP recruit.

Tyler Howell was recruited by Pinkel, he just couldn't get his grades together to qualify until this year.

And he had to reaffirm his commitment to Mizzou.
Don't try to salvage this disaster of a conversation you're having.
I could just say Crockett and it would unravel your position.
During one of the worst situations in modern college football history, a new coach was able to bring in plenty of talent -- end of story. Period.
Get your head on right.

Reaffirm?? He was on campus dumbass, he couldn't participate.
And you're kidding with Crockett right? Micah Wilson turned Crockett to Mizzou. Mizzou wasn't even recruiting Crockett.
Both had committed to Boise State, Wilson was finally recruited by Heupal and committed right away because he is a legacy. Hell, he was the lead recruiter for Crockett. Without Micah Wilson, we would be totally screwed...try again.

Barry Odom brought in plenty of talent during a campus crisis of unprecidented proportions. End of story. Period.
Tyler Howell signed his LOT in December last year, under Barry Odom's watch. LINK
You're being irrational.

"Look son. I know you are 1000 miles away from COMO and there are 15 programs between you and us that have better facilities, history, fan support and currently win more but dad gum I've got a dream to sell!"

Howell was a Pinkel recruit. I guess had to sign another LOI as a formality, but he was on campus before we even hired Odom....as DC

I suggest you don't go into sales.

Spare me.
He had to sign the thing and commit to a program run by Barry Odom.
You people are just looking for people to blame, and the easiest place to point is at Barry Odom.
Idiots.

It worked for Colorado, Utah, Michigan State, Houston shite Iowa does it every year, how bout Louisville, or Stoops first 3 years at Kentucky or Franklin at Vandy, Mullen at Miss State?
We can't suck worse than all those guys at facilities.

None of those teams have won due to superior recruiting. Just as we did not.
You are proving my point.

My point is with our success, we should be recruiting very well. 2016 and so far in 2017 should not be happening. Just look at the list, it's friggin embarrassing, bordering criminal. How can the program have a better tomorrow if this is the recruiting stature of the staff?
Posted on 10/2/16 at 3:28 pm to surgicalvenom
This staff?
Didn't we win the east with Pinkel's 3 star army?
This staff has done everything and more than expected in recruiting so far. They shored up '16 during a legit campus crisis.
For '17 we are leading for one of the best WR's in the country.
Of course many others are wanting to see how our new schemes are going to fit with their playing style. And how the university is going to rebound from blm. Use logic and reason.
We have a young team on top of it all, which is going to hurt recruiting at a place like Mizzou where high end talent wants to play right away.
You're in irrational angry old man who needs someone to blame right now. Grow up.

Your point is wrong. Again, we don't have the foundation as a program to recruit a bunch of highly ranked players. Add to that the instate class being shite, the team not performing and this is what you get.
Next year we'll likely "recruit better" and it will de a direct correlation of the instate class being much better.

The degree to which we are vulnerable to negative recruiting right now can't be overstated. When you have Mizzou alumni, and lifelong Missouri residents, telling their kids they will not support them or help finance their college education if they select Mizzou? But will provide that help and financial support if they go elsewhere? It's a problem. Now, I think there has been an overreaction to the protests, and that it will die down, but it will take a while. But...
Those protests damaged Mizzou and its football program. No question. All thing considered, Odom's approach is probably the best one: the players involved in the BLM movement have a clean slate with him, but he won't tolerate any additional influence of that movement on the football program. If he booted every one of them, which he could have done, some people would have been pleased - and he'd have been labeled a racist.
I'm willing to give him and his staff time to get things in order. I don't think anyone expected us to have a great year - too much change. I never expected to win this game; I didn't expect it to be that bad, but I penciled it in as a loss early on. I do think we should still make a low-level bowl. We have a bye week, so let's see how they regroup.
