To be fair, most Athletic Departments show a loss because;
1. Athleric Departments technically aren't a part of the University system. They are stand alone non-profits.
2. AD's pay the University for athletes tuition, books, food etc. The University credits the AD back the following year for out of state tuition and charges the AD for all out of state athletes in State tuition. This helps the AD post more expenses.
3. The NIL collective is also a non-profit not connected to the University system.
4. Only the ivy League has the school control the AD and they don't offer sports scholarships.
