Ok, call me computer stupid. How do we know any poster is an alter? Were IP addresses checked? How many new posters have we accused of being an alter? How many legitimate new posters have we run off with our alter paranoia? How many potential new posters haven't checked in because they don't want to deal with being attacked as an alter? Were there any inflammatory posts/threads started? If so, that is reason enough to revoke access. If there's not any inflammatory posts/threads then how do we know they are an alter and further who cares if it's an alter when they're not being inflaming? Truly am curious to know because it seems like 90% of all new posters are accused of being an alter even though I haven't seen any trolling/flaming from them (I could have missed it though). Surely not everyone is an alter and I'd like to simply know how anyone knows.

I typed out a bunch of stuff and then just deleted it. He was an alter. Circumstantial evidence. But pretty damning circumstantial evidence.

Yeah, I was truly wondering. I guess I keep just looking for them to say something to inflame Mizzou fans. Maybe I shouldn't be so naïve? I'd just hate to run someone off if they're a true Mizzou fan is all.

It's fine to be welcoming, and I don't want anyone to become paranoid. My approach is to take everyone at face value. Those who are alters, or just here to troll, will show themselves soon enough.

I miss everything!
I may not be the best alter detective...but I don't recall seeing any post from bigcatattack that would lead me to believe he/she was anything other than a Mizzou fan.
On other hand, there is no doubt Porker is capable of running the ruse.

Bogie, my whole thought is that there is no way of knowing if a person is an alter or not, short of someone being able to run IP addresses I guess. The focus shouldn't be on whether they are an alter or not because we can fixate on it because there is never a clear answer. The focus should be on actual posts/threads. I saw a couple of threads that got whacked, and it justified revoking access IMO.
