Tweeted yesterday that he participated in 7 on 7.
Be awesome for the secondary if he's able to come back and play this year.

Doesn't that seem like that's pushing it a bit?

3 months since he tore it. Maybe it was only a partial tear?

That does seem awfully fast to be back to playing 7 v 7 already but I'm sure it's all being done with the doctor's okay. And if he's already doing 7 v 7, I think there's a good chance he could be ready by the start of the season. Hope so. Would love some positive news heading into camp.

The timelines on ACL repair recovery are shrinking every year. When I had my ACL reconstruction in '93 it took me 9 months to get back to normal but I had a full time job in the Air Force so I may have been able to cut 3 months off if rehab was my job.
Does anyone know if Tavon had ACL reconstruction or a partial tear?

I'm fairly certain that you can't have "partial tear ACL surgery". It's either full ACL reconstruction, which involves taking a donor tendon and fully replacing the anterior crucient ligament that was torn. The donor ligament is obtained from either a cadaver or from your own body (hamstring). I had the latter procedure done in 2010.
OR you don't have ACL surgery at all because a partially torn ACL still works.
To be running and cutting on a knee that had ACL surgery just 3 months ago is astounding to me.

You're mostly correct on the ACL reconstruction; the lone alternative you missed was using the patients own patella tendon as a graft. What they do is cut the middle out of the patella and then sew that 'hole' up and use what they cut out as a graft....that's how they did mine.
As far as a partial tear of the ACL they may be able to just sew it up and then rehab it......I'm not certain, this is a guess.
Agree that 3 months is damn fast.

Pretty sure you're correct on the partial tear. When I had mine done back around 1990, I was told I needed an ACL reconstruction because it was just obliterated. I recall the doctor saying that they would have sewn or fixed it short of a reconstruction if it weren't blown out so bad. Ended up using my patella tendon too.
