Kelly struggled but battled through it, spreading out the hits. Wacha got hit hard but managed to escape relatively unscathed. Holliday did hit when the game was close. First double when the score was 0-0 and the second double to put the Cards up by 1.

Go Cards.
Waino is a man beast. Molina is the heart of this team
That is all.

No Holliday jab, classy man.
Can someone explain to me why we picked up Westbrooks 8.5 mill dollar option when he has not been able to finish the last 2 seasons?
Why we didn't give Lohse a 2 year deal instead is just strange.
Westbrook is likely done as a Card, 3 year in a row the guy hasn't been able to pitch down the stretch.

I really like Mo as a GM and try not to complain about some of his deals but the Westbrook thing is just bad Gm'ing. No other ways to look at it.
If Westbrook is in the rotation next year it is a failure on management.

I don't get that move either. I really had the impression that something personal happened the way Mo avoided Lohse like the plague when he was getting no offers.

They really wanted that draft pick compensation, I think.
Not really enamored with the 5'10 lefty they took with the compensation pick, but oh well.
Lohse has a bit of a chip on his shoulder, you could kinda see it last year, and can definitely see it this year. He's a little weird, while Westbrook is a good Georgia boy like Waino. Just think 8.5 million is a lot for a guy that didn't finish the last 2 years, and now likely won't finish a 3rd year in a row.
And kilo, don't think there is any chance Westbrook will be resigned next year, Beltran has a better chance, and that is still a slim chance.

The Rams look surprisingly decent tonight, leading Denver 17-7 in the 2nd. Tavon Austin almost returned one for 6, Bradford got it in on the next play. Alec Ogletree turned a fumble for TD and almost intercepted Manning in the endzone on the last drive.

Cards win again. Pirates lose. Cards 1 1/2 up on Pirates and 4 1/2 now on Reds. Reminds me, took son to game a week or so ago and I'm not sure if he was more excited about a Cards win or getting to talk to Nelly.

It's an interesting schedule with 13 straight against the Reds and Pirates.
And Jeff Locke has fallen apart for the Pirates.

Very bizarre stretch of the season as it turns out.

In ways, I still feel LaRussa's influence on the team. There is almost a pattern to how is playoff teams would play. Start the season well. Middle of the season, nurse injuries, don't want to say take it off but relax and take a deep breath for the stretch run, get other players needed at bats, then turn it on for the final stretch. I just wasn't sure if this team would do the last part. So far, they've had a good start to it. Key is staying in contention through the All Star break and then getting them to peak at the end of the year and not too soon.

Completely agree. You can feel TLR style all over this TEAM still. Probably a good thing for Matheny.

Agreed. I wonder how much Matheny leans on TLR? Can he with TLR's position? I'm sure they talk on the phone I would bet.

Ok, time to get this shite righted. Not liking the extreme streakiness of this team.

NO kidding. They need to get serious with a quickness.

I was glad to see Brett Hull is rejoining the Blues organization.

That is cool. I lost interest in hockey after doing that fantasy league I talked about in the other thread and then with the work stoppages I never got back into it. It is good to see Hull back though. Way over due.

Yeah, that sucks, hockey might be my favorite sport for fantasy.
The Lauries did more to hurt my interest in hockey than any work stoppage could, but I like the new ownership group.

The Cardinals are Bipolar.
The Rams have my hopes, self destructively, high.
The Blues....
please let this be the year for a deep run.
