HC Eli Drinkwitz inherits one of the nation’s top complimentary safety tandems. Joshuah Bledsoe has the movement & cover skills to provide nickel flex at next level. Tyree Gillespie is a big, fluid guy that can play deep and downhill. #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE

This guy is much more confident about them than I am. Feel like MU fans have been talking about the athleticism of every safety we have had since Willy MO and Pig Brown, and how they were going to develop into a big playmaking safety this season.

I hope I'm wrong about our present pair. It would be awesome to have a great safety or two on the D again.

Wasn't there articles last year praising our returning dbs and even a prediction that we had a future first rounder?

We have a good set of safeties for sure. Bledsoe is a solid player with really good size. Gillespie May be the best athlete on the team. Fast as hell and will absolutely lay the wood on guys. I would not be at all surprised if he’s drafted fairly highly.

Gillespie is PFF’s highest grades returning safety in the SEC and has been voted second team all SEC preseason.

Then we have guys like Manuel and Williams backing them up. It’s definitely one of our better position groups.

Yep. Same shite. Different year. The only difference, which is ironic, is that last year people were saying our CB's were solid and the problem was with how bad our safeties are. Apparently, those same safeties are now all world and I guess it's the CB's who will suck if our pass defense flounders.

I'm hoping it's the change in coaches that will provide a change in results.

Yeah, Walters sucks so bad he took a defense full of 3 stars playing opposite a terrible offense and turned them into a top 15 defense.

What a god damn bum!!!

It sucks when PFF and opposing coaches overrate our players!

what was that 'top 15' defense's rank in the SEC? Look it up and tell me if you can . I will give you a hint, you can find it at secsports.com. And it was indeed top 15, but not top 10. Out of 14 teams

Then explain to me why Walters favorite scheme was to get their best receiver in one on one coverage. You would think that would be the offensive team's goal but Walters would take care of it for them.

Then see if you can connect the dots on how our athletic D backs always seem to under perform.

Wasn't it about 6 months ago you were absolutely pissing yourself about Odom getting fired?

And quit upvoting your own posts

I like the way Drink is starting off but he is an offensive minded coach and if he doesn't figure out how to get a better DC down the road fairly quickly we have real problems.

Are you telling me Odom would've fired Walters if he was still the HC? Did you see where Missouri was rank in recruiting class every year with Odm as the HC? I have link.

LINK

On this site you can check the different year and click on SEC for SEC teams only. Do the same for changing the year. You can get an idea how far down Missouri is from the rest of the SEC. That is on Odom. He just not good enough to get better recruits and get the offense going. Drinkwitz will surprise many people this year if there is a football season this fall. The offense shall help rest the defense players and score more on offense and have a much better chance to win 8 games at least. Odom couldn't take advantage of a weak SEC east and he blew games each year. Last year we went backwards. Others in the east got stronger and recruited much better than Missouri. It was going to end up like Arkansas and Kansas if we did not stop the slowly failure of the HC's overall handling of the recruiting and continuing blowing games each year. Finally ended the season winning only 6 games and barely beat Arkansas. That was icing the cake right there. See the writing on the wall? If not you are blind!

One other thing Memphis had an opening for the HC job. How come Odom was not hired? He did interview for it but Memphis had mention that they were looking for an offensive HC. Wonder why that was a big deal? I am seeing the same thing with missouri. Offensive HC is the key to get right quarterback and get the offense going. It is now showing that Most successful HCs as of late are offensive HC. You cannot win with defense any more. That is why offense is a must have ready. Also harder to find a good OC now a days. If the Hc is a good and is an offensive minded one then that is huge plus.
I forgot about the locker room problems that went on and that was another signed Odom was losing the team.
