Personally, if we arent doing whatever we can to win a championship then I dont understand why we came to the SEC. Sure I know the reasons with Texas and everything, but if we just wanted to be an average program then we shouldnt have stepped up because it wouldnt matter if Texas was there or not. So long as we got our 8 wins and were content, there was no point in leaving. Just my thoughts.

There was much more involved including $$$. The $$$ isn't just for athletics. The SEC has a consortium like the Big10. That was probably bigger for the University than the sports $$$. The SEC is just a better conference regardless of how much you are willing to cheat.

Bend the rules...let's gamble. Perhaps we get a natty out of it.
Otherwise, we'll continue to tell people that we deserved to be national champions in 1960.
I want a real championship.
frick it - at all costs.

I know the money, but again that goes into what I was saying. Making more money is excellent, and I argued thats a major reason we should move. But if people just want to hold the rogram at the status quo, or just remain an average 8 win team, who cares if we make more money or not. I only care about money if it means we will elevate the program.
As for the consortium, that is valid but it at least for the time being isnt as strong as the Big Ten's. It will improve in the future, but that cant be the only real reason those that want a stagnant 8 win program through out. There has to be more incentives.

Honestly, Alden said that we need to step up. If we are stepping up we better not have a stagnant program. We need to be winning here above anything else in my opinion. Not saying it is the only thing, but we dont hire coaches based on their community service first.

BEND THE RULES. This is what everyone else successful does and we don't....one of the biggest reasons why we have never won any NC's in my opinion

That's kind of a misnomer kcmo, our bball program has definitely been in trouble many times. We used to be considered a dirty program. Even norm was know to stretch the letter of the law a bit. The only reason we haven't won a bball nc was because norm focused more on winning the conference and didn't care a whole lot about the NCAA.

I think everyone that has input, agrees that more money has to be spent advance Mizzou athletics programs, especially football. I also think these same people expect our take from SEC to be a bigger slice than share from staying in Big 12.
I think the other big reason for move to SEC, was the expectation of stability. No need to worry about the SEC dissolving. The hope was this move would help Mizzou recruit the talent that will ultimately bring the winning seasons and top program achievements. We need to stay the course. Rome wasn't built in a day, and powerhouse athletic programs take time and increasing success to develop.

I completely agree. These are the arguments I used to jstify the conference move. But for those that just want to stay with the status quo 8 wins, that is not advancing Mizzou. So with that being set, why did they want to move? They dont care whether we advance or not, they are happy where we are.

Everyone thinks/knows Auburn cheated by paying Cam. Yet, there was never any evidence found to indict the program. This is where we would fail at cheating, we are in a conference full of schools that have been doing it for the better part of 50 years. They know what they can and can't do.
We would suck at cheating.
