Here we go. HCGP comes out and says a few things and everyone thinks we will be back to being decent. It's koolaid and you all just had a huge frickin glass of it. I used the staff changes quote because the biggest beef seems to be with yost. Friends yost is not going anywhere. Same old shite next year. Here is another. I just heard HCGP on the press conf just talk about brad smith beating out Kirk Farmer. Anyone really believe that mauk/prince will start over JF? I don't. UntilI hear that yost has been fired or removed from OC I have no reason to think we will be any damn better than this year. I do not know what the worst part is? The BS coming out of his mouth or that he just said the goal is to get back to a bowl. Not win the SEC or even the SEC East! Our coach is an under achiever and most on this goddamn board are fine with it. I'm not. Cue the BS excuses of we are not(insert good program here) or there is too much competition for a superstar coach . This is the kind off scared thinking that I'm sure our AD shares and that is why we will never be anything better than middle of the east in the SEC. We do not have the balls to be great.

The whole getting back to a bowl talk is pretty ridiculous. Bowls are the expectation, not the goal.

For example, I dont consider last year (8-5) a good season. A good year is finishing ranked. Not going to shitty bowls repeatedly.

I actually share the more pessimistic opinion that about half of us share.

However, there's too much competition for star coaches this year. What makes anyone think that we could land the superstar coach this year with Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, etc., etc., all looking for coaches?

Give Pinkel one more year to make things right. If he doesn't perform, we fire him and open the bank for a star coach.

Also, doesn't anyone wonder why Pinkel seems so eager to return anyhow? I have a really bad feeling it is to get another year's salary ($2 point whatever million) so that he can handle the $22,000 plus monthly child support payments.

This is what bothers me. A few weeks ago he didn't seem particularly excited to continue his tenure at Mizzou. EVERYONE was reporting his dissatisfaction with being micromanaged.

Now he seems oddly eager to remain HC at Mizzou. His financial situation has changed considering his pay was suspended for a year and that decision came at a time when he was going thru a divorce. Now he has to pay $22,000 per month to ex-wife.

You better believe he's eager to return as HC and get paid. In my opinion, he's using Mizzou to simply remain financially stable...not to win games. He's going to say all of the right things and suck as much money out of Mizzou as he possibly can before he's canned or forced to resign.

Wellll, theoretically, that $23k per month would change if he was no longer making $2.3 mm per annum.

I'm seeing the right words, but they're just that, words. I think bringing Pinkel back was the right thing, but now he better get things on the right track. I know it's way to early, but looking at next years schedule, he best hit the 8-4 mark.

Pinkel can go to hell. Until he actually wins something of relevance like the SEC east, he needs to be gone ASAP.

So he should be gone until he wins the SEC east? If he wins the SEC East, why would he want to come back to Mizzou?

Oh and how is Justin Britt coming back as a starter a good thing?

The only tangible goal that Pinkel has vocalized is a return to a bowl game. I don't think that really excites anyone.

While I can understand the riskiness of saying "we want to compete for the division title," it is, IMO, what our long-term goal should be. And I don't mean long-term as in 2020. I mean 2014.

It's not rational to think we'll beat UGa, SCe AND FL next year But maybe we should have a goal of winning one of those games.

Saying "we're gonna tweak some stuff, evaluate some stuff and try to get back to a bowl game" shouldn't cut it.

The first thing Pinkel needs to do, with finals approaching, is take about 4 or 5 candidates from the team, open their books on the ground in front of them with someone there to turn the pages for them and have them snap the ball straight from now until next August.

Also, fire our snapping coach, Steve Sax.

Who could've seen that experiment going bad?

Sorry in advance.
