Outside chance at the #1 class

If we are able to lock up Tilmon, Knox, Harris and Smith that would give us the #1 class going by 247 composite. This is also assuming Kentucky doesn't add anyone else.

I'm worried that Kentucky will land Bamba. It won't be fun going up against a guy who is 6-11 with a 7'8" wingspan. I don't know what his parents were feeding him but that dude is too damn big!

You mean their normal 7 and 8 star guys?

They already have 6 commitments. I know they are still recruiting, but they could end up with what they have now.

Martin was the least wanted of the probable candidates amongst the fan base in general.
Now we are talking about possibly the #1recruiting class in country.
All this after the Kim years...why on earth did we hire Kim Anderson in the firSt place.
We should bump some of those KA supporter threads for giggles.

Let's not blow this out of proportion. Cuonzo is a good recruiter, yes. But we got lucky with Romar getting fired at Washington. That opened up the door to sign the #1 player in the country who happens to be from COMO by hiring his dad. MPJ knows Knox and a lot of these other higher profile guys from playing in events with them. He's friends with a lot of them. He's basically the one that snowballed this thing.

Porter is the straw stirring this drink, but you are VASTLY under rating Zo as a recruiter.
Porter (or Knox) won't be the last 5* he signs.
I'd be surprised if we aren't consistently in the top 10 in recruiting with Zo at the helm.

No. We will be vastly better than under KA but I don't think we'll be in the top 10 more times than not. Unless by consistently you mean once every 5 to 10 years.

No. I mean consistently by more times than not.
Zo will be a beast recruiter here. St Louis is a talent hot bed and he's the perfect guy to capatilize in the perfect situation.
Again, some you guys are VASTLY under rating him. Especially him at Mizzou

how many 4 star and how many 5 star recruits has stl averaged the last five years
Posted on 4/7/17 at 12:20 am to MIZ_COU
If you include the metro east it's usually 2-4 just in St Louis Metro and not counting the rest of the state.
There is plenty here and always has been.

2013 - 1 4* (Johnathan Williams, Torren Jones both ranked higher than Malcolm Hill)
2014 - 0 (Mizzou had 3 top 100 players recruited)
2015 - 0
2016 - 1 5*, 1 4*
2017 - 2 4*
Used 24/7
So over the past 5 years, St Louis metro has averaged .8 4*s and .2 5*s/yr.
2018 - 4 4*s
If we add in this data point, we're at 1.3 4*s/yr.
Make no mistake, St. Louis can feed Mizzou a healthy diet of top players. But it's not 2-4 players/yr. It's closer to 1/yr assuming a retention rate of around 80%.
And that's 1 5* player in 6 years.

After the last three years, I'd be happy with finishing Top 10 in the SEC win column.

This is correct that STL and the state of Missouri do not produce enough talent for Mizzou to exclusively recruit the state. There are still years when Kreklow or Laurie were player of the year. Mizzou just needs to be in position so that when there is elite talent, that Mizzou is an option. RMN did a story in this a year or 2 ago. Mizzou has been good in years without 4 & 5 star in state recruits. And Mizzou his been bad/going through a coaching change in all the years with that type of talent.
One thing the state has had is players that are consistently under recruited. Tolliver, Burke, McCaw, & Anunoby come to mind
(By the way, how was Laurie the player of the year? He was the 4th best player on his team)

It depends on which site you use, but the point remains that St Louis is a major talent hub and Zo should be a major player in the area.
It's not just having 4/5* players, but there have been several true superstars coming through in the last several years. Guys we had no chance at, now we do.
Add in the rest of the state, it's all here.

Maybe.....but if this is correct there were reasons; #1 he moves around a lot....like every 3 yrs. & #2 he's not a good coach for the offense.
TBH I didn't know a lot about him. Since we've hired him I do like what I've read & heard but the part about not being a very good offensive coach is still a red flag. Hopefully 1 of his assistance can coach the offense bc if get 1 or 2 more studs this year, they're going to want to score points.

kind of what I was driving at. Heysus lives on hyperbole and shite he makes up in his head. Must be a salesman.
Don't know why it bugs me, but it does.

I definitely "bug you".
There is no doubt about that. You're up my arse every thread.
Back to the original point. Do you disagree that St Louis Metro is a major talent hub or that Zo is an excellent choice to recruit it?
