Might or might not affect Mizzou depending on how games play out. I really don't want to read 20 different threads on the rant and certainly don't feel like wading through 20 bullshite posts to hear one legitimate post.

Safe to say it sounds like there is more evidence against Winston than even Mizzou had against Dixon?

Regardless, really wondering how legit the recent claims are and thoughts/rumors on how FSU will handle it if anyone knows.

If so, does FSU hold Winston out of play like Mizzou did Dixon?

If so, does FSU's season come to an end and I don't even want to think about it, but if Mizzou wins out, including the SECCG, would that feasibly get Mizzou into the championship game?

Taking that nut cup off for a second and dreaming, Bama or Auburn will lose in Iron Bowl, falling below Mizzou. Beating the other in the SECCG would cause them to fall below Mizzou. Would beating OM, A&M and Bama/Aub be enough for Mizzou to jump Clemson and Oregon and with either a Baylor or tOSU loss, put Mizzou in the championship game?

I think it would be difficult to have us in the NCG.

I think with Dixon, the second accusation made it worse than what Winston has against him. Smoke and fire.

But there is some evidence of sex if the leaked info is correct.

I've been saying it all along, if we win out we are going to the National Championship game no questions asked.

Had Winston previously denied raping her or had he previously denied having had sex with her or even knowing her? If his stance all along was they had sex but it was consensual, I'd see FSU having a hard time taking any action. If he'd denied even having sex with her, I don't see how FSU can do anything but suspend him while the investigation is ongoing. If he was caught lying about it like that, I don't think I'd want him playing for Mizzou.

Last December, a girl claims to have been sexually assaulted after being at a bar. She says it was Winston, but her physical description was for someone shorter and stockier. Apparently has a rape kit done. A detective asks if she really wants to move forward; he's a football player and Tallahassee is a football town, and she is likely to get raked over the coals if she presses charges. She decides not to, and it goes away. Not clear if the police ever spoke to him.

No idea why 11 months passes. But her attorney claims the investigation is dragging. It becomes public. And it's Winston's DNA. He has denied it through his attorney, still doesn't seem like he's ever been interviewed by police. It seems like they were trying to sweep everything under a rug. Which is awful, if true.

The girl reported it to the police within 2 hours of the rape, so this doesn't seem like someone who was making up stories.

It's all very strange. If he's charged, he can't play, so there is speculation they wanted to stall until after the season.

WG, they're thinking that a 1-loss sec team would play for the BCSCG. That the SOS would get them there, and the momentum of winning several high profile games late in the season.

I think that's a long shot, just like it would be for Auburn. Auburn would have to win out, and get some help from other teams losing. Just like we would. It's possible, I just think it's a slim chance.

It would require a ton of help and some help that isn't likely, beginning with Mizzou winning out, including the SECCG. Using that assumption, you have:

Clemson loses to SC. Possible.
Auburn loses to Bama. Possible.
Baylor loses to Oklahoma State. Possible.
tOSU losing to either Michigan (less likely but rivalry) or MSU. Possible.
Bama loses to Mizzou.

The 2 that are less likely is one of Oregon or FSU would have to lose. FSU has nobody, Florida and Duke as it stands now. Oregon has Arizona, Oregon State and Arizona State as it stands now. What is FSU without Winston and could they lose one of those? Dunno. It's an extreme long shot, beginning with the initial assumption that Mizzou wins out, but I suppose there technically is a way.

It's not at all a long shot. If we win out we are the highest ranked one loss team so there's that. Baylor will lose this week and we will jump OSU even if they go undefeated with our SOS. So only FSU would be ahead of us and we would be two.

Clemson and Auburn are irrelevant. We MIGHT NEED Baylor and Ohio St to lose, but maybe not.

Well yeah if all that happened then certainly missouri would have a chance. Just the wording in that post of "no questions asked" made it seem like he thought yall wouldn't need help and if you won out you'd go regardless, which I thought was questionable.

In order for it to happen, we have to win the next 2 games, then beat either Alabama or Auburn, whoever comes out of the west. That is a very tall order. And even then, we need help; Baylor has to lose. And then the voters have to decide we're the best one-loss team, over Oregon or Baylor.

It could happen. But it's not an easy path at all - required both dominating play and luck. That's why I think it's a long shot. For the same reason, I think it's a long shot for Auburn as well.

Yes, I agree. I think he does think that. I think it's possible but not likely.

Is this a joke. If we win out there won't even be a discussion who the best one loss team is.

This whole thing reeks of a classic coverup.

Unfortunately, the Tallahassee PD are to blame for this whole mess. They should have continued the investigation, letting it go inactive looks really bad, no matter the reason.

Gather some evidence so it doesn't look like you're trying to sweep everything under the rug.

Regardless of wether it was rape or consensual, TPD completely fricked this up.

OT - Cliff Notes on Winston?

Police tried to persuade a girl from pursuing rape charges against Winston. Motive of police is not entirely clear, but from a 1000 feet it looks like they were trying to protect Winston/FSU football and not a girl who may have been raped. Perhaps girl has a secret agenda, but at this point very little reason to doubt her claim (the timing of her reporting the rape does not appear to be suspicious (immediately afterwards and prior to him becoming a Big Star)). Girl appears to get tired of fighting uphill battle against police and decides to move on with her life and just hope police do their job.

Someone alerts media about the incident 11 months later. Media contacts police. Police respond:

Police then decide the new evidence of the media learning about their shitty job warrants them actually sending the case to the District Attorney.

District Attorney is unaware of the allegation and responds:

Investigation starts. Internal emails indicate that police told people the victim was drunk which blood test reveal is incorrect. Finally, DNA test of Winston are done and compared to the rape kit which reveals that his sperm was identified on the woman's undergarments.

Winston's attorney breaks silence and says "we never said he didn't have sex with her." Of course he had never admitted that he did have sex with her and said he had two witnesses who would prove there was no rape.

That's it as far as I know.

DA has stated that he would like to close the case or bring charges within a week or two. DA has stated that he will not go to the grand jury which is unusual. I believe 99.99% of grand juries would indict with the evidence that has been made public thus far (thousands of people have been convicted of rape with less evidence).

Weirder things have happened. Just about every team that wins it all either is incredibly lucky on the field or gets a lot of help from other teams (as good as Bama has been, they needed a lot of miracles in November to even make the championship the last two years (and the one they won four years ago include a blocked field goal in the closing minutes versus a shitty UT team). If MIzzou wins out, I think they have a pretty good shot.

At this point, they are probably the only ones we can definitively declare guilty.
