He seems like an impressive young coach. The recruiting issues were minor except for the one that the NCAA investigated and took no action on. He's an ace recruiter, and experienced with LBs and DL, which is great. He's had no issues at Alabama. I approve.

I asked about him on the coaching changes board. Interested to see what Alabama fans think of him...

I had a thread on tRant. They all like him and say he's not up for their DC spot.

So it sounds like we could get him if we wanted.

Oh, my bad. I didn't see that one. So far only a couple of LSU fans have chimed in. One of the comments was "High quality bagman."

How can you sell a top notch offensive or defensive prospect, on a program with no current OC or DC?

Seems like that would be an uphill battle.

BTW any more chatter on Tosh Lupoi?? The more I read on this guy, the more I think he would be great for MU

Well the defense will be Odom's defense so it will be easy for him to tell a recruit how he will be used, then have video of how he has used similar players in the past.

Why not bring back Alex Grinch?

He's done a hell of a job at Wazzu, and was doing a very good job of recruiting the Tenn/Georgia area before leaving for Wazzu.

One of the Coords has to be a stud recruiter. Recruiting has to improve.

Grinch & Odom never worked together. Also does Grinch want to leave his job as a DC for another DC position?

I imagine Grinch's next position may be a HC somewhere.

WOW, So I guess it's Heupel, as hinted too, earlier this week...

While, everyone else is busy filling their positions. We.... Wait for a BOD meeting for approval.

I don't think the BOC meeting has anything to do with it. Rhoades and Odom already know the asst pool.

I've been trying and still can't get excited about Heupel. 2 years removed from getting fired and 1 year removed from an avg (at best) offense at a mid major.

this from Matter's chat today.
quote:

understand, the curators might not officially approve the entire contents of Odom's contract and may just approve the general terms. And he might not have to necessarily wait for the BOC to act before making staff hires. Between in-home recruiting visits and staff interviews, it's been a hectic week for Odom. I don't think it was reasonable to expect him to have all the hires made immediately. The done deal reports on Josh Heupel were inaccurate. Could he still become the OC? Sure. He was in Columbia with Odom yesterday. But as of Tuesday, at least one other candidate was still in play for the job.

May not be the BOC that is holding this up.

He's gonna be the OC so get on board and get excited about it. That's what we're supposed to do about coaching hires.

I've accepted Heupel. I'm ok with it. Very curious about who our next DC will be though...

Very curious also, as far as our next DC.....Will it be a DC in title only, with Odom calling the D?

The only name I've heard was Tosh.... By all accounts he's staying with Bama.
