Looks like we will play every other year in Little Rock.

LINK

Razorback fans say the place is crap. Horrible stadium and bad for current tv requirements.

Why would they do that? Play their one gauranteed national showcase game on Thanksgiving Friday at their state armpit?

We played LSU in Little Rock on Thanksgiving Friday from ‘94 up until you guys joined the conference. Before War Memorial became a dump, it was a good time. The city has let the stadium become run down though and the time for playing there has passed.

This went from a game I'd go to every year to a game I'll only see live in CoMo.

Same here and I imagine a lot of our fans would agree.

Then why are they doing it Cheshire?

What kind of attendance would you anticipate vs. how MU-AU has been in Fayetteville?

The series is part of a broader deal between the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and the state Department of Parks and Tourism, which controls the stadium, sources said. On off years, the Razorbacks will play their annual Red-White spring game at War Memorial, as was the case this year, said one source, who called the deal a “compromise.”

Bye bye Fayette-Nam !

Because Arkansas has two population and financial centers... NW Arkansas and Little Rock. And a lot of the old money big time boosters happen to live in Little Rock.So playing the game there, like we used to do all the time back in the day, appeases those big ticket fans.

We are also hoping to rejuvenate football in Little Rock because the talent coming out of the city has declined by quite a bit. Which isn't a good thing when the state population is already low enough it doesn't turn out a ton of talent most years.

Little Rock games used to be the big games for Arkansas but that ship has long since sailed. Fayetteville is nicer to visit, has a bigger and better stadium, and you can show recruits around the campus you are trying to get them to come too.

Its the last ditch stand of the Good Ole Boys Network that used to run the state. Unless things turn around for the Little Rock crowds I don't think this going to last too long.

I just read Arkansas is going back to a grass field next year. Now I’m jealous. I so miss the days when Faurot Field had grass.

Its going to require some work, due to how our stadium sits in the hills we don't get a ton of sunlight every day on it. Its still better then turf though.

I didn’t know your stadium doesn’t get a lot of sunlight. I remember not that long ago when you had grass. Then Petrino put the ugly fake turf in.

Its due to how it sits in the hills. Its not like the light of day never touches it. It just doesn't get as much light as most fields.

That having been said it was a perfectly fine field for decades and Petrino wanted to go turf to speed up his WRs. If your QBs suffered a buttload of concusions and were pretty much shot after three or four years in your system... well so be it.

I didn’t know it was so hilly there. When I went to Fayetteville a few years ago it didn’t seem like there were many hills, but I didn’t go to your stadium. Too bad I won’t be going back since the annual game was moved to War Memorial Stadium. Maybe I’ll go back for a Northwest Arkansas game again.
