Right take the best available players. I just disagreed that 1 has to be a post as I think Santos could be good as a 4.
Obviously if one of the top available is a big then take him, but there is some flexibility on how you take the 3 scholarships.

Agree. From an NBA GM’s persepective, if you can land Jontay in the 15+ range, you gotta take him. If his strength is your biggest concern, you gotta roll the dice. Knowing he will go back to college and develop physically, you’re assuming he’s going to immediately play his way up the draft board and out of reach the next time around.

Being devil’s advocate of course.

Oh it’s a big deal to lose both Porters, but Cuonzo could still put a competitive roster together. Without Jontay Mizzou’s ceiling is a bubble team.

Without Jontay this team will be lucky to win 18 games next year. You realize how competitive the SEC is now? The garbage teams this year are going to be good next year.

Mizzou will be lucky to go 9-9 in conference play next year with or without Porter.

Yea that sounds about right. Foundation pieces for the 2019-20 season would be in place.

Cuonzo has navigated that borderline disaster remarkably well.

You have an assistant coach whose decisions as a father are in conflict with the goals of the team. And Cuonzo never showed publicly that it was an issue.

The Porter family is all a little high strung. If MPS indeed leaves, I think it’s safe to say it wasn’t a good fit. That doesn’t mean that fans should be upset or bitter. They helped us take about the equivalent of a three year step forward in one year.

next year will suck(still entertaining thanks to KA ball) but in 2-3 years it could be really special. Going to be super young with or without ramey.

Ramey, Watson, and tilmon are great pieces to build around. You already have your 3 major position pieces filled for the next few years with pg, sg, and center. If we can get Hinson and another 4*/5* forward.

for sure.

But next should still have a decent starting 5. that bench thooooo

Ramey - Giest
Watson - Pickett
Santos - Wolf
Puryear - Smith
Tillmon - Nikko

Must get - GT shooting guard, and a 2018 Forward. If you can get that, and the GT slash is 40/40/75 should survive a year.

He got Mizzou 2 5 star forwards. 1 of those was instrumental in getting a high 4 star center. Most would call that a good fit.

An assistant coach who is here one year probably isn’t a good fit. Argue with me.

It's reminiscent of buying shoes for my three young kids -- they fit for a while, but size 2s aren't a long-term solution.

yeah but why isn't he a good fit? Is he a mediocre coach? Is he hard to get along with? Is Gonzo hard to get along with? Did errbody know that he was here to get his kids here? And if so what about the rest of his 37 kids (they catholic or something. got special DNA. never heard of overpopulation?>)

I have questions man

Probably cared more about his kids than the team.

Not saying that's wrong, just that it could cause some friction with the HC.
