I have seen Pinkel play freshman this year so I would hope the staff would play him. But much like you Reedus I feel like they would RS him as well and use the same 2 deep.
I hear ya. Some freshmen play, but are not starters or get regular snaps. I guess I should have been clearer. Would GP have the balls to START a true freshman at LEFT TACKLE? I just don't think so. He might have been active. he might have subbed in on occasion at one of the other spots on the line. Guard or RT maybe. Just don't see him allowing a true freshman to ever start at LT.

Chill with the melt bro.
We played a better team, we didn't really catch any breaks and we didn't play particularly well. That combo will get you beat every single time.

He's good enough to start at LT for FSU. He's surely good enough to start for Mizzou as a true freshman. But do you think GP would have? Personally, I don't think so.
I think Boehm did start at left guard as a true freshman but it was a case of not having experienced seniors available as well, offensive line is not an easy position to jump into and pick up. Just like QB it can take a large amount of adjustment from HS.
You have to recruit kids that good first, and we know who Pinkel is as a recruiter, he will get the occasional Boehm, DGB or Big Shel, but not more than one or two a class, which will never be enough to compete with top programs. Look at some of the down programs like Tenn, Arky and even UK, they brought in coaches with bold recruiting strategies and sales messages and turned it around quickly.
When Pinkel retires that's the kind of hire we need, if we are ever to be a top recruiting program, the question will be if we have the AD that can make that hire.

Most of us realized it was going to be a steep uphill climb to beat Bama. They didn't help us. They put the ball on the ground a few times but they recovered. Of the 4 CCG we've been to, I only thought we realistically had a shot at winning two of them-the 2007 game against OU, and last year against Auburn. We outplayed OU in the first half in 07, but couldn't run the ball in the redzone. Last year the game got away in the 4th quarter. I really thought we didn't have much of a shot this year. This team overachieved all year, and just wasn't up to the task of taking down Bama. Just didn't have enough offense, and we knew that (or should have) going into the game.
The final score was disappointing, but really, few if any of us expected to get back to the SECCG again this year. Despite the outcome of the last game, I'm proud of the way these kids fought and hung in there this season when they could have easily let the season go down the tubes after the UGA game.

Good post.
I'd love to hear what our sales pitch actually is. It's obviously not resonating with top end talent.
What Kentucky is doing - going into Ohio and pulling highly rated recruits - is quite remarkable.

Their are some outliers, sure...but Mizzou is not the easiest place to recruit to.
Below average facilities/stadium. Below average fanbase. Average history. Average, at best, in state talent base.
First and foremost, we need to get better commitment from our fans. They are fickle, don't travel particularly well and our donor base is small. Hopefully as we get further along in this league that will improve.
