Played their first game of the season against UAB. Won 8-1 (only run given up was a HR in the last inning against a back up pitcher). Freshman Finucane pitched 5 scoreless innings on three hits. Lots of hitting on the Mizzou side. Second game of the double header at 3:00 today.

And as for the future of the Tigers, the starting lineup today (9 batters plus starting pitcher) included 3 freshmen, 4 sophomores, 2 juniors and 1 senior.

Off the bench they used 1 senior (relief pitcher), 1 junior, 2 sophomores and 3 freshmen.

And go to 2-0 with a 2-1 win in extras.

Really young team this year. I'm excited to see what they can do. SEC is loaded, so I'm tempering my expectations this year, but the future really is bright for softball at Mizzou.

It was a great start for the ladies. Both Freshman pitchers did a good job in there first games.

This. SEC is loaded but you guys have an exciting team with (what at the moment at least) looks like a bright future. Will be interesting to see how they all gel.

Softball up 8-0 on Lipscomb today. Same lineup as game 1 with Finucane pitching.

By the way, in the 2nd win yesterday, it was another freshman pitcher that went the distance and looked solid.

Tomorrow will be a big one. Think Baylor is ranked as well and have a solid pitcher.

On Thursday lady tigers beat Arizona 2-0 then lost to Baylor 3-2. Friday they beat Fordam 8-0 in 5in. San Diego State 11-2 in 5in. Saturday they play UCLA at 4:30ct. The freshman pitching seem to be doing great, it's the batting that has to get better against the bigger schools. Here are some links to game results.

Softball is 7-3. All 3 losses being by 1 run and against top 15 teams (Baylor twice and UCLA). For such a young team, really encouraging despite the three losses.
