Ok, we sit in 5th, but have all but 1 wrestler still alive. What kind of chance do we have to win?
Not good, but Ohio State has some pretty poor draws in the Quarters apparently and just read they may not advance.
At the end of the day though, I still think Ohio State wants this much more than us and definitely showed it today. Money would have to be on them.

@todpalmer: Smith on #Mizzou's day: “I don’t like where we are right now. I’d rather be in first, but we have an opportunity to do great things still.”

Smith pretty much said it all. I suppose we can hope that tOSU exhausted themselves today and come back to earth tomorrow. They were getting bonus points like mad.
Illinois actually has the most wrestlers alive still, but we're right behind them and in better shape.
Things seem to have gotten easier for Waters with 2 time defending national champion Delgado from Illinois losing. Has another unseeded wrestler in the next round. Also, the #2 seed lost.
The 4 seed in the upper bracket lost, making Houdashelt's route to the Finals a little bit easier.
197 hasn't seen much in upsets. The good news with that is that Cox is a beast, though I have seen him dominate yet.
I think there is no doubt those 3 have got to make the finals and it may be that those 3 have to win the finals at this point. I don't anticipate any more bonus points from them.
The good news is, if we're as good as we thought we were, bonus points should be easier to pick up in the loser's bracket, at least earlier on. If the 3 up top have to pull their weight by just winning, the guys down below have to step up like Eblen and Lavalle did and wrestle not just to win but to get bonus points. Mayes and Eblen are the most likely to get that done. I think Miklus might be able to as well.

Y'all freaking out over the first day. No worries as of now. Today is where the team race really shapes up. Placement points are the real decider. Need as many All Americans as we can get. Still have 9 alive. If the 3 on the Championship side win one on the Championship or wrestleback, they are AA. Guys on the back need to win 3 to get to the podium.

125-Waters- Sitting well. Quarters opponent looked awesome yesterday. Beat him 4-2 earlier this year.
133-Synon-Out.
141-Mayes- Really screwed up in the 2nd round yesterday, but hopefully that translates to pissed off, bonus point scoring on the backside.
149-Houdashelt- Chugging along. #4 seed losing gives him a clearer path to the finals.
157-Lavalle-First round loss wasn't a shock, as his opponent was a returning AA who wasn't able to be seeded. Good to see a bonus point rebound. Keep it going.
165-England-Already surpassed expectations. Any win from here on out is icing on the icing of the cake.
174-Eblen-really shot himself in the foot by losing in the first round. Had a nice win last night. Hope he has his head on strait, because we need him.
184-Miklus- Shocked alot of people by getting a pin in the first round, but just wasn't aggresive enough in the 2nd. Hope he can pick up a few bonus point on the back.
197-J'Den-Just keep winning. Need him in the finals. Screw bonus points, Just Win. (Watch the 4/5 matchup in his bracket, will be huge match)
285-Mellon-Solid win in the 1st. Beat by an animal in the 2nd. Should grab some points on the backside.

Waters just won his quarterfinal match 4-1...moving on up to the semis.

Ohio State is pouring it on...up 16.5 over Missouri, who is in fourth (2 behind 3rd and 10 behind Iowa in 2nd).

I don't know how wresting tournaments work.
Do we still have a shot at winning a national championship or not?

Ohio St 41.5
Iowa 36.5
Mizzou 33.5
Had no Idea Ohio State was that damn good.

Maybe they are, maybe they arent. It was clear like I said last night though that they were gunning for the team title. Winning wasn't enough, aggressive from start to finish and doing everything to get bonus points.
There were two totally different demeanor comparing them and us

Ohio State really stepped up this year. Won the Big 10 (after 54 year drought)...lost to Mizzou by one point, lost to Iowa by 4 points.
And they're really hitting their peak now.

Listen Hither....We are fine. Points get inflated today. No need to freak right now. Ohio State is losing people on the wrestleback side.
We have done excellent so far this round. Have some head to heads with them in the Semis that will be literally 18 point swings. Do not panic.
We got this.

Cox wins his quarter. Lackluster is the only word to describe it. 3-2, Cox spent the 3 periods basically, avoiding losing rather than going at his opponent. I hope he can be more aggressive here on out.

Cox is through, all Mizzou's #1 seeds make it to the semis...

Missouri is now in second place behind Ohio St. Got a lot of points to make up, though.

7 Wrestlers left after the morning session, down 16 points in second place. 3 left on the Championship side of the bracket. Contrast that with the leader, Ohio State, who has 5 left in the Championship side of the bracket but nobody left in the Consolation Bracket.
Waters and Cox face Ohio State wrestlers in the semis, so that might help figure some things out.
