If anyone recalls Charles Harris was a 12th hour signing on national signing day out of Kansas City, MO and looks to be a steal as players and coaches are taking notice

Shane Ray on RSF Charles Harris: "A guy with a work ethic like that, I feel like he doesn't have a ceiling."

Gary Pinkel doesn't often rave about freshmen. Says Charles Harris "is going to really be an impact player:

DT
Matt Hoch SEN
Lucas Vincent SOP
Harold Brantly SOP
Josh Agusta SOP
Nate Crawford Red-Shirt FR
(gained 20 pounds up to 285 @ 6'5 thought I read somewhere he will be DT)
Dequitin Osborne Red-Shirt FR
Evan Winston SOP

DE

Markus Golden
Shane Ray
Charles Harris Red-Shirt FR
Ricky Hatley Red-Shirt FR
Marcus Loud Red-Shirt FR
Rocel McWilliams True FR
Spencer Williams True FR

A couple things stand out:
We have the depth at DT to compete this year considering we have two starters returning, and two rotational players coming back from last season with the potential to possibly add two more players to the rotation (Dequintin Osborne, Nate Crawford)

While losing Kony Elay and Michael Sam is a blow we have players ready to step in, and fill the void left by these players by red-shirting players from last years class and allowing them to develop and gain knowledge of the system. The two obvious starters at those positions will be Markus Golden, and Shane Ray. With coaches already talking about the impact Harris can have, he will be a part of the rotation. The only question is if anyone else will become part of the rotation (i.e. Williams, McWilliams, Loud, Hatley)

Thanks for the breakdown, I was one person that was concerned about our depth at DT and DE. But it looks like we have some young athletic talent at DT. My only concern at DE is can Ray hold his side. He is a great speed rusher, but can get knocked around when the run comes to his side. But that's Pat Ivey's job, and he is the best in the nation.

Guess I'll shut-up and enjoy the season.

Where does AJ Logan fit Into the picture? I was hoping he'd crack the depth chart this year.

I think overall, our dline will play better this season than last. Losing the DE's we had last year makes that seem crazy but I think improved DT play will make the line overall better. Plus Golden had 6 sacks last year in less than 30% of the snaps. Augusta will get more time this year and Brantley looked like a stud. Losing Ealy and Sam hurt but I think we have the guys who can replace the production.

During last years signing class I thought Pinkel said he was a run stuffer so maybe he will become part of the rotation on running downs. With the depth at DT I don't see how he will get much playing time with Hoch, Brantly, Vincent, and Agusta all returning unless an injury were to occur

If Marcus Loud can contribute at DE that only makes the line depth better

•Defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski said his freshman backups at end -- Charles Harris and Marcus Loud -- are practicing beyond their years, which he appreciates. The interplay between starters Kony Ealy and Michael Sam and their backups Markus Golden and Shane Ray was crucial to the Tigers' pass rush success last year. Kuligowski said Harris and Loud are approaching their part of the equation for next season with aplomb: "You have guys who are great players, and then other guys step up and they become great players. Last year’s performance was last year. Now we’ve got to get better."
•Kuligowski also said only having four scholarship defensive ends in camp isn't necessarily a bad thing: "Our last recruiting class, we signed three outstanding defensive ends. Those kids like to hear there are only four scholarship defensive ends right now. They want to come in and compete, too. We’ll just build with what we’ve got."

you left out AJ Logan. He is likely to play over a few of those other youngens. Logan is the strongest of the bunch.
