Would anyone really be against this team tanking so hard this year we have to throw the house at Marshall after the year?

We could have gotten Howland for roughly what we were paying Haith.

And you knew this how? Who on this board was privy to the inside info on our coaching search?

Haith's salary at Mizzou - $1.8M
Howland's salary at MSU - $2.0M

I'm not sure there's a great leap of logic required to get to the point the other poster was making.

On the surface you guys are correct but there's more to hiring someone than just salary.

So Howland took a job at Mississippi St, but would have turned down Mizzou?

That's not what I'm saying; what if BH was an a-hole when we talked to him? What if he wanted too much control? What if we just didn't think he'd be a good fit?

Alden didn't think he was a good fit. He didn't like how Howlands time at UCLA ended, so never really considered him.

Absolutely. I don't think Howland would've been a good fit at Mizzou. You know who he would've been better than? Kim Anderson.

This is TBD based on a small but ugly sample size.

Does anyone know if there was any truth in us making a real push for Marshall and we were just a million or so off to get him?

Some guy named Kilgore was all over this on Tigerboard.
