Hard to get much of a feel given how much we have seen, but the kid is an athlete and a winner.
LINK
Dude has the sidearmiest sidearm I think I've seen, but he also has a quick release and is a good scrambler.
This season now rest squarely on the o-line's shoulders; it's about to get interesting!

red flags: bleacher report, high school highlights
if you're one of the few mizzou fans that doesn't know, mauk's dad coached his team. they threw on all 4 downs, everygame. his brother held the all time hs passing record, and did nothing at Cincinnati.
I'd hardly call a chicken legged, slight beer gut, average speed, below average strength, below average sized kid athletic.

Said this somewhere else, but fits here also.
We got Chase Daniels after Brad Smith was injured.
Mauk can do it ...he got some good teammates to count on.
Honestly, I am glad it is Florida first and at home.

The kid was sought after.
The kid earned #2 for a reason.
I refuse to let last year's experience bring me down. I'm 100% with Mauk. First play out of the gates should be 50 yards down field to DGB. Make a frickin statement that we are just as confident in Mauk as we were Franklin. Don't come out with some "milktoast" game plan as our friends from Georgia would say. Something tells me he's a better player if you give him some free reign. Let the kid loose.

Sounds like you're talking about Chase.

Seriously, though, what you say is all accurate. But, I ain't letting this shite bring me down until there's a reason for it to bring me down. Frick it. The kid is gonna wing it against UF. If he shite's the bed, then I'll wallow in it. But until then, I'm all in 100%.

That's an odd statement. His brother only spent 1 year at Cincinnati and threw for over 3,000 yards and 30 TDs in it.

chase had thick legs... and he had good fast twitch muscle. he was short, but so thick that he had good strength.
what i say about mauk is really how i feel, but i'm also trying to reverse jinx.. maybe i'll have to eat crow, and that would be awesome.

Yeah, I guess the beer gut is where I stopped reading.

honestly, i had just heard he didn't live up to the hype in college. so i assumed he didn't do well at cincy.
it appears he didn't do much at wake forest, then as a 5th year sr did some damage at cincy.

I'm aware of his inflated HS stats; you don't put up those numbers if you are just average however; regardless of the system.
I'm not sure what his brother's lack of success at Cincy (and WF BTW) has to do with anything but the point is noted I guess.
I'm sure you know more than the schools that offered this average kid, including ND and Michigan. I'm not saying he is the second coming, and we are most certainly not going to be as good without JF, but none of us know enough about MM yet to start slitting our wrists.

I get this. What I don't get is what our supposedly professional coaching staff was thinking making him 2nd string and redshirting the supposed "real" talent QB if he sucked in practice.

He was recruited by ball st and those type of schools.
ND and Michigan were going to take a chance on him bc of those big HS numbers... but they weren't laying out the red carpet setting him up to run those programs. He was recruited as a wild card and depth at those schools.

It's nearly impossible, or very hard to come on campus and run a system as a true freshman. He was an obvious red shirt with two decent guys in Mauk and Berk ahead of him.
Plus he wasn't physically developed when he got here, 175 I think. Gotta red shirt him, let him grow into his frame, learn the system..

dude this fricking sucks man, the last couple games franklin has been proving himself against all the offseason haters. He's played like a complete beast all season long and now, after an unnecessary slam to the ground, he's most likely played his last football game.... ever? got to feel damn shitty bout his situation and hopefully he comes back for the bowl game(or sooner!)

They did take him down hard. At least we know what a healthy mizzou offense can do.

I feel terrible for Franklin; it really put a damper on the win.
Regardless, I'm really curious to see how Henson calls this next game.
