You can make this argument against any recruit in the country. There's people who flop at every position.

I'll take JJ everyday of the week and twice on Tuesday over this overrated diva.
This guy screams absolute failure to me, keys on all the red flags as a recruit. I'm not sold on ESL as a must have in recruiting, I'll take a three star from Texas over almost any 4 star from MO or IL.
The level of competition just isn't there for most of these guys.

Thomas is an unnecessary luxury because of JJ. He's a special type of competitor, plus has skills.
But to think Jeff Thomas is the type of 5'10 WR you can find anywhere is blatant stupidness -- which is what he's saying.
It's also absurd to think recruiting him is taking away resources from recruiting linemen -- which is what he's saying.

But yeah, I'm not gonna cry over losing this guy. Chances are he never pans out anyway. Major red flagger in my view.
