I am not a patient person, but I get that he HAD to get some transfers, weird situation, etc. But to me it is alarming how our bigs have had like zero development as the year has progressed.

My thought is if he misses the tourney this year and next he is probably done? Thoughts?

I think if he misses the tourney this year and next he's toast. In my opinion, if he doesn't start winning some games in the tourney next year he's skating on thin ice.

You're going to hate my answer then. I think Alden will give him until JW3's class hits their senior year. That means 3 more seasons. I think the first year was written off as a recruiting year, though the team of seniors did great. JW3's class was what I consider to be Haith's first true class that he recruited. Prior to that, he was fixing the mess that Anderson left him. I'm going to bet that Alden will give him until JW3's class are seniors.

For whatever it's worth, assuming Clarkson and Brown leave, I think it is less likely we make the tourney next year as compared to this year.

I think reedus is probably right. I think Alden will give him 2-3 more years before making any changes, probably 3. He's ours for a while anyway.

This is kind of what annoys me. I realize he has to be given time to build his program, but I also don't think he is going to be the one to get us to a final four or win the league (I hope I'm wrong). And I feel like we desperately need a final four on our resume. So if we have Haith for 3 more years, we are at least 5 or 6 more years away from even being able to think about a final four. Depressing. Just give me one final freaking four in my lifetime dammit! I'd settle for a league title though.

My hope is he does good enough at recruiting that it overcomes his shortcomings in coaching. And not even sure how much of the credit he gets for the recruiting as opposed to Fuller. If Fuller leaves, we may really be screwed.

I think if he fails with wright and Gant...... his ship will start sinking. I wish he didn't play around with booker too long and miss out on gants boy who went to Marquette (ahmed Hill) I believe.

Good point about Fuller but I agree Haith will get three more seasons unless there is a total collapse. I think he has done a very good job to date. I'm excited about next years incoming freshman. A good 2015 class and Haith will be rolling.

I'll say it again. Who was excited about and wanted Painter? I did. What's he done during this period? How about Huggins at WEst Virginia during this time?

Huggy bear has led the NCAA in cougars bedded and bars closed down for at least 15 years. The record on the court is secondary.

His leash with the fanbase has been pretty short since his hiring.

Luckily, Alden is the guy that makes the decision and his track record of sticking with his guys in the face of pretty nasty fan opinion has worked out fairly well for him. That being said, I figure missing it this year and really biting it next year will be the final call for him. There is something to be said about not being the Cleveland Browns. Hire who you think is the right person and give them the time to either prove you right or wrong.

I'm not seeing where he needs to get fired at all. He hasn't failed to get MU into the NCAAs yet, even if it is going to be a low seed, consistently getting to the dance helps maintain a culture of winning that can make the next step much easier.

Just from looking at his record, 2 years more isn't a lot to ask.

Coke, you're probably right. If you look at it, though, each year he has one less of Anderson's players and more of his own players and each year so far the record has gotten worse and worse. It's the trend that is concerning. Now Anderson left him a shite pile to deal with, which is why most understand he'll be here through next year, whether they want him here or not.

You're right, Coke. We just have high expectations for our basketball program, and not a lot of patience when we believe we're underachieving.

There isn't enough of a sample for it to be a trend. Hell, if it's all based on Anderson, his trend isn't great lately. Sure they're improving, but you know, he's following up Pelphrey so I guess it's based on what you would consider the baseline.

I don't think Haith is great, and I think losing Nestor hurt him, but I'm willing to give him some time to get a solid basis of his own folks.

My initial reaction to Haith is to have a short leash because of his record at Miami, but that ship has sailed and he's here now. I'm hoping Alden is smart am and saw something in Haith nobody else did.

Don't get me wrong. I think he probably should get another 2 years. I hate getting into a coaching carousel situation where we're replacing a coach every three years.

Year 1: 30-5 and tourney appearance
Year 2: 23-11 and tourney appearance
Year 3: ??? If we go 2-2 down the stretch we're 21-10(with SEC tourney to go) and I'd bet no tourney with that record.

That's enough for me to see a trend. I do think he deserves a chance to change that trend.

I think I agree there.

But yeah, I was looking at Mizzou BBall history, lot of appearances, not many 8s and up. Actually surprising how close to the cusp MU has been for so long, just never really getting over the hump. It takes 3-4 years for most coaches to show what they will do, and some of them don't peak until season 5-6. If he isn't pushing the program back after 4, give him more time to do something.

Mizzou is the definition of not being able to clear the hump in anything ever. I realize this may be seen by other fanbases and be quoted until eternity, but it's true.

Mizzou has this thing that's easy to understand in SEC term, (basically) WAOM. There is absolutely no reason a school with the resources and history we has hasn't be able to really do shite on a national stage.

It's a curse, but I think it's a Red Sox type curse. Get some people in there that think we can win and demand it, and it will happen. We've got a base of fans right now that are used to the shitty decade and a half of Mizzou football. They almost expect it. We want bowl games as a fanbase. We'll support bowl games, because it's better than 13 losing seasons in a row.

These new alumni are used to winning in football and being in the NCAA tournament in basketball. I hope when they start making their money and becoming financial supporters, they demand more than bowl games and quality football with some basketball tourney appearances.

Once we start winning real shite like NCAA tournaments or BCS games, that can become the norm.

Right now I think we're hampered by our history of wanting to be respectable. We're there now, it's time to take the next step, but you can't do it wholesale. It takes a building. Football is building, and we need to take the next step.

Football will build this university's athletics program, and it needs to happen soon. This year helped a lot. If we went 7-5, we'd be okay after last year, but this year gave a whole new group of students an expectation that they'll hopefully carry forward in their future of supporting Mizzou athletics.

Tangent, I know. Haith being on a short leash is good for us now, I think. We expect NCAA Tournaments. Miss it twice, you're fricking gone. It's a lot better situation than a lot of schools are in, but the next hire (if there is one) is huge for the future. Get a good hire, and we're on a rocket, bad and we're fricked.
I personally hope Haith wins something next year to avoid the regime change and the wildcard draw that comes with it.

Haith should be gone now. Program is trending down with no areas of need being recruited and a lack of basketball being played on game days

Dude is garbage and was so lucky to be gifted this job after Miami
