return 90 % of your contributors and turn a top 10 unit into the garbage we have now? Not too mention stripping the team of its identity in the process.

It's unfathomable really.

Remember the long thread we had that was bemoaning our previous scheme for being so remedial and how the new one was so superior (particularly against the run)?

That was fun...

I didn't like hearing about the scheme changes in the offseason and worried that it was a mistake from the moment I heard it. My fears have been realized. We've lost our teeth and DLineZou doesn't exist anymore.

We're watching an assistant coach learn head coaching on the job.

He'll either learn or he won't.

He'll realize he made a mistake or he won't.

It's Mizzou football. We've been to some dark places, so I'll just have to adjust my blood pressure meds and turn off the TV every now and again.

the d actually played better than the o, but they are still having trouble staying in their gaps. we haven't run into that kind of running attack this year. they would have ran just as much on last years group

90% of the contributors?
Brothers covered up a lot in last years defense. Also losing Brady has been a big blow. It's not so much how many are back, but who.

Brothers is a good player who was put in a position to make plays in last year's D. Brady is a bigger loss than I thought he would be, for sure.

But yes, we return the vast majority of the contributors from last year's squad.

But lost key contributors both on the DL and LB. 2 areas that struggled most last night.

The D gave up 634 yards and 42 points.... They played like shite......... As did the O.

Agree with jesus... No excuse for the D to be this bad...... None.

But still return the majority of our players from last year at both spots.

Return 5 of 6 LBs from the two deep and return our entire two deep at DT and 3 of 4 at DE (although Howard has been hurt)

4 of the top 6 at LB, Green and Brothers are gone.
But it's not really about how many return. It's who is gone and how good is that replacement.
Brady was way better than Harold, Williams, or Frazier.
Brothers way better than Burkett & Lee
Simon was better than Wilson.

The game spun in the wrong direction early.

D-fense got gassed out early. A ton of running. Couldn't recover. We'd still have lost, but not in such a fashion.

The team we played is a top 5 team in the country who finally operated properly last night.
