It's difficult to complete passes when your running for your life. I do remember that.

I wasn't as upset that he couldn't complete passes with Jones breathing down his back, but he has to do a better job protecting the ball. On the Int, I don't know what Franklin was looking at. Jones wasn't rushing obviously and Franklin had time. He threw it right to Jones and if Jones didn't intercept it, not sure who it was but the next Bulldog would have. On the fumble, he started to scramble because he knew Jones was coming so he should have done a better job protecting the ball. None of that may have made a difference, other than the final score might not have been as lopsided as it was but he didn't help our chances by giving the ball away in those instances. Having said that, it's doubtful we would have even been in the game in the 4th if Berk had started. We're just fricked till 2014.

You just can't judge either of them fairly based on this season IMO.

Berk is young and Franklin is not healthy.

Agree with this.

I'm not sure if you know franklin personally, or what. If so, I can understand your irrational attachment to him. But, the fact is this offense has been putrid on 3rd down since Franklin took over as QB (not that it was great before), but that is absolutely not going to cut it in the SEC. When Berk plays, the offense gets much better on third downs.

Is 3rd down all you have to hang your hat on? Not all thrid downs are created equal. Theres a big difference between 3rd and 2, and 3rd and 20. I remember some pass plays on first downs and second downs that either were not completed because of dropped balls, or the play just was'nt there. Not all 3rd down failures are a result of the QB.

Here's some other stats you can chew on....

Passing on the year:

Franklin- 70 completions out of 128 attempts for a completion rating of 61.7%. With 4 TD's w/2 INT's. for an overal rating of 122.8%

Berk- 64 completions out of 131 attempts for a completion rating of 48.9%. With 3 TD's w/5 INT's for an overal rating of 93.5%.

Don't get me wrong. I think Berk could eventually be an outstanding QB. He has a nice arm but he needs more work. He is not going to be a run style QB either. He is a pocket passer with an occasional run play here or there. This is another reason Franklin is probably a better option than Berk. It allows Yost to run more a spread-option scheme. With Berk, the spread-option is not as threatning as with Franklin. It just does'nt work with Berk. He's not that style of QB.

Franklin was getting pounded that game. Even when he ran the ball. He was getting extra shots put on him and the INT your refering to was after he had injured the shoulder again.....on a previous play where Jones got ahold of his arm as he was throwing. Franklin was not even 50% effective at that point throwing the ball.

Had the O-line even done slightly better blocking that game, there still might have been a better outcome. That and I don't think Franklin was 100% for that game anyways. He was a few shots away from screwing up that shoulder and it happened.

I won't argue the fact that yes he could have done a better job of protecting the ball, but Jones is a monster.
