I've got four taverns within like a mile of me right now, and I can pass them up based on service, strength of drinks, and clientele whenever I want. Drive an extra mile and there's 10 more.
I like that. I don't think I could do it any other way.
To share a personal experience, when I lived in Columbia as a youngin my mother was obviously with me. She was from a small town in Illinois, but she'd lived in the Chicago area and Las Vegas for the last twenty years. We moved to Columbia and she went crazy because at the time there was only really one place for a good steak, only one decent Italian joint, etc.
I like having at least 20 places that serve an awesome steak to choose from in whatever price range I'm willing to spend that night. We don't do it often, but when we do, it's awesome to choose the right one. Hell, it's even good to choose a bad one and try the next one.
I just can't see being in a four bar town where the same assholes are always in the same bars, the Italian joint serves the same acceptable Italian food that isn't anything special, etc.
Want to see a sporting event? High school football starts in four months!
Bleh.

I shoot guns in the desert all the time and my business is literally built on a road with a horse trail next to it.
It's good to do what you want and have variety.

You know what the worst thing about a 400 post thread? The moment it's deleted due to unnecessary bumps and general ruhtardness.
I hope that doesn't happen for ya, man.

It's not what you think it is.
This is a country arse town wrapped around a big city. You'd probably like it. I don't, but I've been here too long.
This isn't meant to sound offensive, but it will. Simple folks love living in Vegas. It's big city with all the libertarian country bullshite.

If you come to visit you'll see big city Vegas.
Get past the ghetto surrounding big city Vegas and avoid the yuppie areas I stay in, and everyone is like a dude or chick you once met in a small town truck stop.

I hate Vegas, but only because I seem to go there all the time, because everyone that comes here, wants to go there, and get "The Vegas Experience".
I'm so over that fricking strip it isn't even funny, and I get to go do it again next month, for my wife's cousin from Thailand who is staying with us for a few months for school.
frick me, walk around in the hot arse desert and look at all the fricking casinos, etc, etc, fricking etc. Every time I go there, I leave for home with blisters on my feet and chapped skin from the dry arse heat.
Jesus.
Rant off.

Vegas is fine if you see The Strip as a supplement to the whole versus just being the total.
It's cool to take advantage of the strip when it is necessary, but it's awesome to be able to avoid it.
The Strip is not Vegas. It's what everyone knows, but it's not half of it.

If this was a bar where dudes had phones attached to the bar in front of their spot at the bar waiting for conversations and this one came up, I'd hang up.
Yet, I feel the need to continue.

Beeteedubs. Went to Mall of the Fricking America last week.
What a pile of shite that was. Everything you hate about malls in a much larger unmanageable size.
Walked around for 2 hours, went into one store (Nordstrom Rack) and left. "Look at that, Becky. They got a roller coaster inside the mall!!!" "Well, I'll be, Fred. That is something."
