Lost in reasonable fashion.

Nobody expected it to be any better, and most would've expected it to be much worse.

This shouldn't have put any logs on anybodies fire.

This is factually wrong.

A "reasonable" coach reinserts Geist back into the game before Illinois builds the lead back up again.

A "reasonable" coach plays KJ Walton more than three minutes.

A "reasonable" coach keeps CVL primarily on the bench where he belongs.

There is nothing "reasonable" about a Kim Anderson coached game/loss.

Wins are flukes.

Mizzou Basketball: occasionally losing in a reasonable fashion since 2014

Has a nice ring to it...

Agree with much of what you say about this loss. It was just another loss by a very bad team. Not nearly as embarrassing as some of the others. Just more of the same.

The above quote though...man how far has the program sunk when we are judging performance on how well or how poorly we lost.

I read this as an indictment on KA when put in the context of having one of the youngest teams every single year. There's a reason for this as well as having only average type players.

othing about this game should have created new frustrations or added to the hate.

But can certainly reinforce the frustrations.

I actually do "expect" a whole helluva lot more out of the Mizzou basketball program. Thus the reason for the frustration.

I'm done worrying about KA... He's as good as gone. We all know this. The only question remaining, is when.

The guy has been beat up enough.

You're right. I actually feel bad for him. I suspect he's already made the decision to step down himself, even without having to have Sterk "meet" with him.

With every successive post you make on this subject it becomes more clear that 1) you thrive on conflict (while not thriving) and 2) you don't know shite about basketball.

I think we overestimate his character. I don't think he's actually a nice guy. I think he's calculating and a manipulator which he hides under his "aw shucks" veneer.

But but but

He must know something about basketball because he told us in his first post long ago that he doesn't know shite about basketball. How can you not know shite though unless you know shite in the first place to know you don't know it?

You could be right. I don't know the man at all. I just don't know how even he, as the coach, can justify keeping himself around.

I think he believes that he was handed an impossible task. I don't think he would do anything appreciably differently if given another chance. He might have "cleaned house" faster. But that would just mean we would have found the bottom faster as his guys filled the roster faster.

I agree with that. Part of me just thinks that he steps aside saying exactly what you said. I was handed an impossible task. I did as much as anyone can. I convinced one person I improved the program. The rest isn't my fault but the situation I was thrown in to and I'm outta here now. Before being fired and told otherwise.

Basketball is dumb. It's played mostly by dumb people. There are some really stupid rules. It seems to attract and reward slime-ball middle aged white male coaches. It's not my thing. I openly talk about my limited liking and knowledge of it -- so it's odd to call me out for not knowing shite about it.

Don't think my opinion here is unreasonable and doesn't require basketball knowledge: This probably went slightly better than most would have expected, and didn't go nearly as bad as most would have bet -- which means no new logs of frustration should be added to the fire. Zero movement on the anger meter. Just increased apathy.

I would largely agree with that with the allowance for someone complaining that this may have been Kim's worst job at coaching a game this year.

Called that response. As if that thereby substantiates and legitimizes everything else that follows.

I mean, obviously we're talking about the game today within the context of the shitty situation. Not your overall expectation for Mizzou basketball. Kind of pointless to counter the way you did.
