Only an idiot of a coach would say that. You dont guarantee anyone a spot. You bring in competition for it and let the best man win.

Gates should look at Fardaws Aimaq. He only played in 11 games this year for Texas Tech because of a foot injury. He is 24 years old and played at Mercer and Utah Valley.

Aidan Shaw will be better than Diarra next year. Even with the height difference Shaw will be a lot better in every aspect of the game except free throws.

If Shaw leaves there are plenty of players in the portal that can replace both Shaw and Diarra with more experience.
