Tuesday night games are tough to make for KCMO and the Lou. I think a majority may be friends of the players, parents or Columbia residents taking in a game and sprinkle in some students.

My question still remains... why are there less than 10k mid-mo folks who go to basketball games? Are the tickets too expensive? I realize this was a football thread, and I'm not that sorry for hijacking it. But the question could actually pertain to our non-sellout fb games too. Mid-mo should be able to fill that stadium even without kc and stl folks.

It's that way for all sports. I know that the lack of support from the immediate area is the biggest blame for the poor attendance with baseball. Baseball relies on the local community nearly 100% during the week and probably almost that much even on weekends. I don't get it. Poor promotions in town?

It's my understanding that the seats are sold but that the season ticket holders can't be bothered to go to the games.

I got a buddy that works in marketing for a pretty big company. They have butt loads of seats, whether it's football or basketball, whether it's Mizzou, the Cardinals or the Rams. Obviously, the idea is that they're used to entertain clients. I don't think many of them are used other than for the big games like UK, maybe Arky or UT. So he ends up giving a bunch of them away to friends here. He gets lots of takers for the football takers. Not so much for basketball. I have never talked to him about donating them to a boys/girls club. I'm gonna guess that the decision to do that has to come from someone with a higher paygrade because I doubt he'd put a bunch of unknown people next to the CEO from some company.
I can also tell ya that not all of them are our fault, at least for games that are on ESPN. A buddy gets a lot of tickets to give out from ESPN and I know of dozens that go unused because ESPN gives them to him and he can't give them away, unless it's football or a big game.
Maybe that need to stop selling to corporations? I kid.

Not sure I understand your post. Are you saying people should travel to COMO to see a game and just show up to work tired and hungover?
