Heard Dusty Davorcheck mention Brian as a favorite for the LB position at OU.
Grinch is also rumored to make over $1.5 million/year as the new OU DC

It would be a great move for him. He and Grinch worked together in Pullman and I wouldn't blame him for wanting to distance himself from Walters.

I know you hate Walters, but 2 of the Stoops Brothers and Odom have hired him. BO also had to make him CO-DC to keep him a couple years ago. His reputation in coaching circles is much higher than among the Mizzou fan base.

I don't hate anyone. I think he is a decent recruiter that can't prep his room. The front 7 generated one less sack and 9 more QB hurries than the 2015 defense which is what everyone on here considers an outstanding defense. The pass defense was legitimately the worst in the last 10 years. There are no scheme changes to blame or mid season firings. It's all Walters.
Who exactly was going to hire him away two years ago after the product he helped put on the field? He proved he couldn't coach Read 2. He has now proven that he can't get these guys ready to play C2 and Man1 vs any P5 team with a pulse.

The starters at DE in 2015 finished with 14 sacks and 30 TFL. The starting DL finished with 80% of the sacks and QB pressures.
2018 starters at DE finished with 2 sacks and 5 TFL. Even if you include any DE that started those numbers only go up to 5.5 sacks and 12 TFL. Obviously the DT position was more disruptive this season.
If the pressure numbers are close to the 2015 it’s not really because the DL was great, and more because the coaches put together some pretty good blitz packages.
Though those blitzes put the DBs in way more high pressure situations, which they weren’t good at.

The 2015 DLine recorded 20 sacks and 30 hurries.
The 2018 Dline recorded 15 sacks and 26 hurries.

You must have different stats than the ones I was looking at.
Also do you have data on total snaps played, number of dropbacks, blitz rate, average number of rushers per drop back, average seconds per drop back? That’s the type of data that would be better to compare the different seasons.

They faced an average of 5 more passing attempts per game this year.
They blitzed plenty in 2015 using Scherer, Brothers, and Newsom. Brothers and Newsom combined for 5 sacks and Scherer, while used far less got 2 hurries.

It's being reported on Twitter that Brian Odom turn down the job at Oklahoma last night.

He would be coaching the entire room and probably getting a significant pay raise.
Good for him.

Smart move for Brian Odom..... Agree getting away from Walters probably weighed heavily on this decision.
IMHO Odom leaving is a no confidence vote against Walters.
I do have one question for you though.
Why do you waste your time arguing stats with the company yes bitch?

Brian is going to double his salary and coach at a team that will compete for the playoff every year. It puts Brian on track to be a DC in 2-3 years. Probably has nothing to do with Walters.

It sounds like Odom will coach the Mike and WLB and McNiel will coach the Jack and Sam.
