I have decided, after a lifetime of Chiefs fandom, to renounce my fandom for the Chiefs. "But KCM0Tiger, it's just a couple of bad games!" Ah, but it is not. I have a lengthy list of grievances which I attribute to my decision:

quote:

I've been through my entire fandom without witnessing a playoff win.

I've seen a 13-3 season with the greatest offense in franchise history, just for us to lose the first playoff game at the hands of Peyton Manning because our defense didn't force a single turnover or punt.

I've seen Peyton Manning amass a 14-1 career record against the Chiefs, including a 7-0 record since joining our bitter rivals.

I've watched Carl Petersen and Scott Pioli serve as GM's and drive the franchise into the ground.

I've seen Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel as head coaches.

I've seen the Jovan Belcher tragedy.

I've seen multiple 2-14 seasons.

I've seen Larry Johnson embarrass the franchise with his off field behavior.

I've seen the Chiefs spend a #1 overall pick on Eric Fisher, who has been nothing short of a complete bust.

I've seen the Chiefs start 9-0, only to end their season by blowing a 38-10 lead in the second half of the AFC Wildcard game.

I have seen the Chiefs starting quarterbacks such as Brodie Croyle, Tyler Palko, Tyler Thigpen, Brady Quinn, and Matt Cassel.

I've seen the Chiefs go over 30 years (and counting) without spending their first round pick on a quarterback, the most important position in the game.

I've seen the Chiefs go EIGHTEEN games without a wide receiver catching a touchdown.

I've seen fans organize to fly banners begging Chiefs owner Clark Hunt to fire everyone in the organization because they were all so inept.

To be perfectly honest with you, I'm sure there are dozens more grievances I could list but I have tried to repress them and thus they escape me at this time. The point being--I stuck it out all these years through all that misery. I've been a Chiefs fan through the darkest of times and stayed true. But I think the last two games have finally broken my spirit. I have long questioned why I bother supporting them, but after the past two games, I question no more, because I support them no more.

So if you skipped reading all of that misery, and I wouldn't blame you, to make a long story short, I renounce my fan-hood of the Chiefs and say this: For once in my life I am going to cheer for a winner...Go Patriots!

Don't be a damn bandwagon fan. I'm sure you don't support the Royals after years of losing either then.

The Royals tested me too, but I was never quite able to give up on them. If nothing else, I stayed a Royals fan to spite the fact that everyone else in MO is a Cardinals fan. Plus, the Royals at least always had the excuse of being a small-market team in a sport with no salary cap.

Unlike the Royals, the Chiefs have competed on a perfectly level playing field for their entire existence, and have nothing to show for it besides a Super Bowl that happened within a year of the moon landing. frick the Chiefs.

The Chiefs won't be good until they have a difference maker at QB. For some reason they don't get the NFL concept that you HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD QUARTERBACK TO WIN frickING FOOTBALL GAMES.

The Chiefs piss me off. But thankfully the NFL has totally over-saturated the market. That combined with the Chiefs sucking has given me an apathetic attitude toward the Chiefs and the NFL as a whole.

They've stuck their head in the sand about that for 35 years now, even as the league has become more and more pass happy. It's almost comically stupid the way the Chiefs have handled their QB situation over the decades. Before I quit being a fan, I was downright offended at what can only be construed as an act of ignorance and lack of effort towards the QB position.

Agree 100% with this. I can honestly say regardless of the Chiefs, I have watched less and less NFL every year over the last few years. I barely watch it at all this year. However, I'll probably do some more watching as I get acquainted with my new team in New England.

Don't come crawling back like you have with the Royals apparently.

You don't deserve to be a fan with your attitude.

Real fans take the ups and the downs.. You don't get to pick the ups.

You know 5thTiger, you're right...why stop with the Chiefs? If I'm going to melt, I might as well melt all the way.

frick it.

From now on, I am a Patriots fan, Cardinals fan, Spurs fan, Blackhawks fan, L.A. Galaxy fan, Manchester United fan, Alabama football fan, Kentucky basketball fan.

Damn it feels good to be on top

So, you have had it with the Chiefs, but you'll still remain a Mizzou fan?

Seems like you should dump both if you're going to be such a pansie assed bitch.

I need a shower after reading this thread.

The only team I will give up on is the Rams if they move back to LA. That's because I was always a St. Louis Rams fan and never was an LA Rams fan. I like to keep my fandom to my home state too. So I was thinking of becoming a Chiefs fan if the Rams move, but I may just quit the NFL for while and do some thing productive on Sundays during football season.

Please heed my warning and do not do this. I wouldn't want someone to voluntarily choose to sign up for that misery. Trust me, I was a Chiefs fan once.

pretty shitty attitude, being a yankee's(Pats Pittsburgh) fan is going to blow up in your face, and when it does, you deserved it.

As a lifelong member of Cardinals Nation I'm going to have to deny your request until you complete a 23 year trial period.
