I've been pushing Payne since I saw him play Mulder. He's a scorer, but can also play the point.
Woods can be a good defender & rebounder. Not much to his offensive game, but he is physical enough to finish around the rim and through contact. Look for him to fill a role similar to what was asked if Rosburg & Post last year.

The highlights that guy posted on TB were from HS, 2 to 3 years ago.

Mizzou is visiting 4* SG KJ Walton tomorrow and he's expected to get an offer. He has grade issues but it sounds like those have been cleared up. He would be our highest rated commit and only 4* if he comes on board.

Sounds like we're not very confident on Eubanks. Not a slam. Just an observation.

Woods had better be a stud or we're gonna see Rosburg 30 minutes a game. No doubt we need some shooting, but his roster is going to quickly become lopsided.

I agree, unless we have a SG leave I'd think we need a big more than another wing player. Maybe we aren't confident we can land another big and going for best available?

Judging by all the guards Mizzou is still recruiting pretty good bet we still see at least 1-2 transfers.

Both are going to have to play regardless of how good they are.
I thought we were one man short in the post this season....now we lost 2 (Post, J3), and currently have 0 signed (woods probable though). Tweeners better grow a few inches.

I know that many think that the importance of big men in the game has decreased, and to a certain extent, I agree. What I also agree with is that it is possible to win without them, but a lot less likely.
Taking a look at the Final Four teams (since I think that should be Mizzou's goal) for the last 5 years, it looks like a vast majority had a big that contributed in some way. Not always the leading scorer, but contributing and playing significant minutes.
2015
Duke: Okafor(6'11")
Wisconsin: Kaminsky(7'0"), Dekker(6'9")
UK: Towns(6'11"), WCS(7'0"), Lyles(6'10"), Johnson(7'0")
MSU: Schilling and Costello (6'9")
2014
UK: WCS(7'0"), Randle(6'9"), Johnson(7'0")
UF: Young(6'9")
Wisconsin: Kaminsky(7'0"), Dekker(6'9")
UConn: Brimah(7'0")
2013
Louisville: Dieng(6'11")
Michigan: McGary(6'10")
'Cuse: Coleman(6'9"), Christmas(6'9")
WSU: Hall(6'8")
2012
UK: Davis(6'10"), Jones(6'9")
kU: Withey(7'0"), Robinson(6'10")
tOSU: Sullinger(6'9")
Louisville: Dieng(6'11")
2011
Uconn: Oriakhi(6'9"), Okwando(7'0")
Butler: Smith(6'11"), Howard(6'8")
UK: Jones(6'9), Harrellson(6'10")
VCU: Skeen(6'9")
Out of those 20 teams, there might be 4 that didn't play with a serviceable big man. That doesn't mean they weren't a guard oriented team. Many of them were. But they by and large also had a big man who contributed. Really hope KA focuses on another big man with any additional scholarships. After this year, we will have only Woods(assuming he commits) and that will only be for one more year. He needs a freshman big to go with Woods. Or is Puryear considered a big?
I don't think that we need to concern ourselves with landing the next Shaq or Stipo, but KA needs to find some Oriakhi's or Patric Young's or the like.

sounds like Tatum is releasing a Top 4 soon, and we are not in it.

So then Duke SLU UK and KU?

Vanderbilt's Shelton Mitchell will transfer, per release. Three years of eligibility remaining. Averaged 4.3 PPG as a freshman.
Mizzou and vandy were his final two.

Probably won't get released to another SEC school though.

Lol, good job Mitchell.
I worry about Woods and Puryear as our 2 "bigs" this class as I've read both are only about 6'7, not exactly D1 big man size. Like I've said before, undersized kids is a theme of KA's recruiting. Missing on Tatum sucks but not super unexpected. He'd better land Cook or Sneed if he wants any chance at getting better.

If SLU is in his top 4, it's as a courtesy. Their program is in as bad a shape as ours. That's no easy feat.
Eta: I wouldn't be surprised to see UNC in there.
