Manley got reckless and takedown in the 3rd. Down 3-1. Escape makes it 3-2. Maybe the early stall call will come into play.

Need bonus points from Mayes now.

Mayes looked solid. Bonus points.
14-10 good guys now.
157 next. Be huge to avoid bonus points there. My guess is we'll give them up but who knows.

Fortuna does give up the bonus points.

Lewis showed well but lost a decision. Jordan didn't do much once he had the lead but held on.

Butler looking good. Up 5-1 with over a minute riding time.

Butler was strong. Bonus points. Tied up at 17. Miklus and Cox left.

Miklus is just on a mission. TF against #10. Awesome win and bonus points. 15-0 for him. Mizzou up 22-17 with Cox going.

Mizzou wins match 26-17 over tOSU #3. They have 31 dual wins in a row.

Awesome man thanks for the updates

Huge effort by everyone on the team. I'm pretty happy with 9 of our weights performances.
But HOW ABOUT SYNON AND MANLEY?!?!?!?! HUGE. Won the dual.
125- Very disappointed. Barlow looked mentally broken. Absolutely terrible effort. not happy. Tomasello is pretty incredible, but Barlow lost before he stepped to the line.
133- Zach Synon!!! Those double underhooks were awesome! Almost had them in the first but went out of bounds. Other than getting taken down, wrestled a great match, putting a huge exclamation point on his resume.
141- Matt Manley!!! It took him a little while, but he is BACK! Didn't give up at any point. Huge takedown at the end. Very excited for this kid. He deserved it.
149- Mayes did well. no ifs ands or buts about it, he controlled the match in his own timid looking way. But when he explodes for that blast double...quite a sight to see.
157- Fortuna knew his job was to not get pinned, and he did that well.
165- Lewis showing some balls choosing top in the 2nd, and giving BoJo all he could handle. Would have been awesome if he could have pulled it off...but very very very pleased with his performance.
174- Interesting that Tom Ryan keeps the RS on Martin, throwing out a backups backup. Blaise looked great though. Dominated from start to finish.
184- Miklus just destroyed Courts...mentally, physically, and emotionally. Destroyed him. Had me a little scared in the 3rd when he looked to be caught for a defensive pin, but put that to rest.
197- Happy with match J'den wrestled, but he is so offensively minded right now that he is leaving himself open to getting taken down. If he wants to win another title this year, he has to shore up that defense.
285- Sure, Romero got pinned, but showed signs of life and emotion. That lateral drop was great. Didn't give up at all. Just going to happen alot this year, being a smaller true frosh heavy.
Synon and Manley coming up huuuuggggeee. Incredible performances.

125 - The good news is that he now knows where he has to get to by season's end. He was way outclassed tonight but maybe he can work towards that level, or close to it.
133 - Just not a Synon fan. I did like the extra gear he threw it into when he was on the edge of losing. Hope he continues to prove me wrong.
141 - Another one that just never quit. Thought he was the better wrestler but just found himself behind in points. I think he's going to be solid this year.
149 - We'll see what he does against better competition. Definitely like the fact that he knew what he had to do and went and did it.
157 - Just feel bad for the kid but the experience will pay off in a year or two. Just a throw away weight class this year.
165 - I just wasn't as impressed myself with Lewis but I'll take your word for it. Maybe there was some technical stuff I'm just not up on.
174 - I know it wasn't much competition, but was still impressed. Probably my 2nd favorite wrestler of the night.
184 - And my favorite wrestler. He just seems so damned focused and on a mission.
197 - Just hope Cox isn't developing bad habits against lesser opponents. He knew he could toy with this guy and he did.
285 - Whether it was good wrestling or just dumb luck that led to 6 points or whatever in 10 seconds, am truly unimpressed. The guy still can't defend someone shooting on him. I mean like not even once.

My biggest surprise this year is Romero. Yes, I expected that as a hwt freshman, he'd have a tough go. But the kid had a great HS record, 2-time state champ. He looked pretty good for a minute or two against tOSU...but then another arse whippin'.
Is he just demoralized...or is he clear out of his league in D-1?
I swear, if a 7-pound poodle was on his back, he'd just wallow around on his belly and not be able to get up.

Bit of both...plus it is heavyweight....they are pretty known for not getting off their back when put there.
Even the best heavyweights get pinned with surprising regularity if they get put on their back.
Unless you are just incredible, true freshman don't usually do well above 149. Just a part of the game, as their bodies haven't developed. Romero needs a weight room and a full year to put on about 20 pounds. I'm hoping J'den bumps up next year, and romero can use a shirt.
Lots of kids at the college level never had to fight off their backs. they are all usually so good for so long that they never developed that skill set. DiJulius is a Top 4 guy and he got stuck like a pig. Sometimes it just happens.
