I understand we're not the only fan base that turns on coaches. But that doesn't make this scenario any better. We as fans of this university suck

USA Today has him as 56th. His bonuses moved him into the 40s.

No fan base would have responded well to their team threatening to strike during a season they looked like they had already given up on the field. It is what it is.

I think he’s earned the right to be paid around the 30th best in the country.
More important is the buyout and the pool that goes to his assistants. The assistant pool is low among P5 jobs.

He’s not. Not even close of course.
You’re just going to have to get past your dislike of the guy. He’s going to be here for a long time.
Nobody is talking about breaking the bank here, but it’s perfectly reasonable for him to expect and Mizzou be able to pay a reasonable salary.
Morris, Orgeron, Campbell, Kingsbury, Fitzgerald, Brohm, Pruitt, Fuente, Stoops, Christ, Mendenhall, Fleck all make 3.5 plus. It’s 100% reasonable for us to be in that tier.
You already admitted a G5 lottery ticket is going to cost 3M + but you’re spending this much time arguing our current guy shouldn’t get that? It’s asinine

im not even talking about the strike. Mizzou fans, in both basketball land football arent very good. Even when things are going as great as they can, we still have something to complain about. Look at how well we packed Atlanta. Look at how well we travel to Bowl games. Look at how well we travel to home basketball games, our "true school sport". Mizzou fans suck, mizzou fans are mad Odom wants more money, mizzou fans will complain about anything.

If Odom is paid in the top 35 he better get top 35 talent and finish in the top 35 every year.
With pay comes higher expecations.

Bump him to $3M and if we get to $15M in ticket revenue, he’s a top 30 coach.
For comparison, Arkansas had $31M in football ticket sales in 2017 when they were 1-7 in the SEC.

That’s a shitty argument. Yeah. We didn’t get as many fans to Atlanta as Auburn or Alabama did. Let’s move to the Big 10 where we can drive to the championship.

He can make almost $5M with a slight raise and getting butts in the seats. I’m not arguing he shouldn’t be paid. I’m arguing he should earn his pay.
An 8-4 year isn’t some amazingly successful year. I get that you jack off to pictures of him, that’s not how compensation is decided for the university.

we had like 25%. Hows that a shitty argument?
Sure, maybe for the auburn game since I like many got stuck in the weather. But if you hate to use the SEC championship why not look at the bows?

Whittingham has 120-59 record. He won national coach of the year in 2008. He’s 11-1 in bowl games. He’s the second winningest coach in Utah history.

I think Taggart will be an elite coach within the next 2-3 years. He has a good history of improving at WKU and USF.

His bowl game record is impressive, but Utah on average isnt, especially in a much much weaker conference.
Also i dont give a frick what his record is outside of the P5
What odom has done in his first 3 years as a coach in P5 is more impressive than what Whittingam did his first 3 years in p5, and he was established when he entered.

He HAS earned better pay than what he’s getting. He’s earned better than being the lowest paid coach in the SEC. He’s earned being higher than the 5th lowest P5 coach.
He’s improved the on field product every year he’s been coach and has repaired the fractured STL recruiting relationship. He’s put a legitimately good team on the field by year 3.
If we got a new coach and he was better in yr 2 than 1, and better in yr 3 than 2. You’d be happy. That’s what we have.
He’s absolutely earned a market value contract, and that’s what he’s going to get despite any message board musings to the contrary.

He’s 62-39 during his PAC12 tenure.
Bowl eligible in 6 of 8 years.
And they’re playing in the PAC 12 championship next Friday.

I think Mizzou's general ranking should correspond to the coaching salary. I know it doesn't work like that but yeah, top 35.
Posted on 11/27/18 at 11:06 am to the808bass
years and years down the road. Wait, youre telling me Odom can improve!! Wait and he started with a worst record than Odom before improving!! And not to mention, he already had his team when he started his P5 campaign. Thats it, pay Odom whatever he wants. Odom is the next Saban.
Im sure 3 years into the Pac move, Utah fans were calling for him to be fired, just like Odom and mizzou fans.
